Job Summary:



The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily kitchen operations at the Elder Home Care Centre. This role ensures that meals are nutritious, well-prepared, and served on time, while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and elder dietary care. The supervisor will also be responsible for creating meal menus tailored to residents' dietary needs and establishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities:



Menu Planning & Food Preparation



Develop and update weekly/monthly menus tailored to residents' nutritional needs, dietary restrictions, and preferences in consultation with healthcare professionals. Ensure meals are balanced, varied, and appropriate for elderly residents (e.g., soft diets, diabetic-friendly, low-sodium). Oversee food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and consistency.

Kitchen Operations Management



Supervise kitchen staff, including cooks and helpers, assigning duties and monitoring performance. Monitor inventory of kitchen supplies and ingredients; manage stock levels and place orders as needed. Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen at all times.

SOP Development & Implementation



Create, document, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for food handling, preparation, storage, sanitation, and waste disposal. Train kitchen staff on all SOPs and ensure adherence. Review and update SOPs regularly based on feedback and regulatory changes.

Team Coordination & Training



Conduct regular briefings and training sessions for the kitchen team. Encourage a culture of teamwork, accountability, and respect. Assist in staff scheduling and performance reviews in coordination with HR or management.

Administrative & Compliance Duties



Maintain accurate records of menus, food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and inventory. Coordinate with the Centre's healthcare team to ensure all residents' dietary requirements are being met. Perform any other tasks as assigned by the superior.

Requirements:



Proven experience as a Kitchen Supervisor, Chef, or similar role, preferably in a healthcare or elder care setting. Knowledge of elderly nutrition and dietary needs is highly desirable. Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen equipment. Ability to create structured SOPs and training materials. Excellent leadership, communication, and time-management skills. Basic computer literacy (for menu planning and inventory systems). Certificate or diploma in Culinary Arts, Food Services Management, or related field is preferred.

Pay: RM3,200.00 - RM3,800.00 per month
