Job Description

Reporting to the Principal and under the direction of the School Science Department, the School Science Lab Assistant performs a variety of tasks related to the support of chemistry, biology and physics labs in both Primary and Secondary classes. Duties & Responsibilities: \xe2\x80\xa2 Assists in the day -to-day operations of school laboratory. \xe2\x80\xa2 Setting up and taking down lab equipment as specified by teachers of the Science Department. \xe2\x80\xa2 Sets up a test apparatus and conducts test units following methods, procedures, standards, and sequences. \xe2\x80\xa2 Preparing chemical solutions, reagents during the lab procedures and ensure the lab is stocked with necessary supplies. \xe2\x80\xa2 Securing the lab by cleaning up any spills, washing the apparatus and keep reagents and equipment in designated place after practical sessions end. \xe2\x80\xa2 Assist teachers in conducting experiment, if and when instructed. \xe2\x80\xa2 Assist students in carrying out experiments, if and when necessary, under the guidance of the teacher. \xe2\x80\xa2 Works closely with students during lab sessions and guide them through experiments, answer questions students have concerning the process. \xe2\x80\xa2 Preparing of laboratory materials required by teachers. \xe2\x80\xa2 Purchasing of materials for experiments not available from the school\xe2\x80\x99s supplier, as and when requested by teachers. \xe2\x80\xa2 Participates in curriculum and staff development opportunities as required. \xe2\x80\xa2 Assist with school activities and events as directed by the Principal.
