Overview

Alcom Nikkei Specialty Coatings Sdn Bhd (ANSC) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented

Lab Technician

to support our R&D and quality testing activities. The role involves preparing paint samples, conducting standard coating tests, and ensuring the proper operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment. You will work closely with engineers and the R&D team to support coating trials and product development, while maintaining strict safety and compliance standards. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic team in a specialized coatings environment.

Responsibilities

1. Paint Handling & Sample Preparation

Prepare paint mixtures according to formulations provided by engineers. Apply paint onto aluminium panels using drawdown bar techniques. Ensure accurate labelling and proper storage of test panels and samples.

2. Testing & Measurement

Perform standard coating tests including adhesion, film thickness, salt spray, and humidity resistance. Record all test results and observations accurately and in a timely manner.

3. Equipment Operation & Maintenance

Operate laboratory equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures. Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment and ensure a clean working environment.

4. Safety & Compliance

Adhere strictly to laboratory safety protocols and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Handle and dispose of chemicals in compliance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and company safety policies.

5. R&D Support

Assist the R&D team with coating trials, testing of new formulations, and related documentation. Support production trials and prepare customer samples when required.

Requirements

Candidate must possess at least a Diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) Level 2/3 related to industrial chemistry, paint or laboratory technology. At least 1 Year of working experience in the related field - quality inspections/ environment related to metal industry. Fresh graduates are welcomed to apply

Required Skill(s):

Prior experience in coatings, paints, or related industries is an added advantage Ability to follow instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) accurately Willingness to work in a laboratory setting and small-scale coating environment Good communication skills and basic computer literacy for data entry and reporting Team player with a positive attitude, strong discipline, and keen attention to detail.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
