The Land Surveyor is responsible for measuring and mapping land areas to ensure accurate boundaries and support land management and development projects. The role involves working closely with various stakeholders to provide precise data and analysis for effective land use and planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Surveying and Data Collection:
Collaborate with HDOPs to measure the total distance of main roads, secondary roads, foothill roads, and bund roads for each block.
Conduct surveys to track all block boundaries, demarcate buffer zones, valleys, unplantable areas, and other designated areas.
Ensure boundaries follow natural features such as rivers or roads, considering existing blocks marked by computer data.
Conduct ground and aerial surveys of new land development areas.
Produce, provide, and analyze data from a range of sources such as aerial photography and satellite surveys.
Perform site survey data capture with total stations, levels, scanners, etc.
Mapping and Documentation:
Create detailed maps and plans of surveyed areas using GIS and CAD software.
Convert paper-based maps to digital-based maps for all Company's properties.
Prepare sketches, maps, and reports of legal descriptions of surveys.
Submit all track data on a fortnightly and monthly basis to relevant stakeholders.
Rework production acreage by identifying and excluding non-productive pockets (e.g., river buffers, foothill valleys).
Project Support and Compliance:
Provide technical support for land acquisition and lease agreements.
Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to land use and boundary demarcations.
Prepare and present reports on survey findings and project progress.
Liaise and assist the plantation operation department on survey matters.
Responsible for issuing survey certificates for payment purposes.
Field Work and Equipment Handling:
Perform fieldwork in various environmental conditions, requiring physical fitness and the use of appropriate equipment.
Utilize GPS, total stations, and other surveying instruments for accurate data collection.
Operate vehicles such as scrambles or motorbikes to access bushy and remote areas.
Use state-of-the-art technology such as drones for surveying tasks.
Data Analysis and Calculation:
Calculate measurements of sites.
Write descriptions of property details for boundary surveys.
Analyze data using plans, maps, charts, and software such as AutoCAD, Trimble Survey, Micro Survey, etc.
Leadership and Supervision:
Work independently and supervise field survey activities.
Serve as the focal person for survey matters and issues.
Lead and guide the survey team in performing their work assignments.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
Complete the survey of one block per week, ensuring accuracy and thorough documentation.
Adapt to challenging field conditions, including bushy areas and regions with wild-grown acacias.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Geomatics, GIS, Remote Sensing, or any equivalent discipline.
Experience in conducting surveys in forestry or the oil palm industry is an added advantage.
Proficiency in using surveying equipment (GPS, total stations) and software (GIS, CAD, AutoCAD, Trimble Survey, Micro Survey).
Versatile and capable of using both conventional and advanced technologies such as drones.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Knowledge of Malaysian land laws and regulations is an advantage.
Physical fitness and the ability to work in various environmental conditions.
