The Lead, Backup Operation role focuses on overseeing the management and optimization of backup systems within the technology department of a financial services organization. This position is based in Kuala Lumpur and requires a strong understanding of backup operations to ensure data integrity and security.

• Manage and maintain backup operations to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Implement and oversee backup strategies, policies, and schedules for critical systems.
• Conduct regular testing of backup and recovery processes to ensure reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure backup operations align with business needs.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to backup operations.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Provide technical guidance and training to team members.
• Prepare reports on backup performance and recommend improvements.

A successful Lead, Backup Operation should have:

• A strong background in backup systems and data recovery methodologies.
• Strong expertise in hybrid cloud backup strategies including native cloud tools (AWS Backup, Azure Backup, GCP Backup), SaaS backup, and cloud immutability.
• In-depth knowledge of SAN/NAS/Object storage technologies, backup & recovery, archiving, data tiering, and deduplication.
• Proficient with platforms and tools such as Dell EMC, NetApp, HPE, IBM, Hitachi, Cohesity, Veeam, Veritas, Zerto, and Commvault.
• Strong understanding of storage's role in cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), containers (Kubernetes CSI), virtualization, and hybrid environments.
• Proven ability to manage and optimize backup processes in a complex IT environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address system issues effectively.
