Job Description

To lead the civil design, analysis, and project management of commercial, industrial, and institutional building projects, as well as critical water infrastructure developments including kolam takungan air (TAPS), barrages, and dams. This role ensures technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and timely execution across all project phases. Key responsibilities include driving engineering innovation, mentoring junior staff, and fostering a collaborative environment that promotes continuous improvement and high-performance outcomes in both structural and water-related civil engineering domains.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical & Project Delivery

- Lead civil engineering design and analysis for buildings and water infrastructure projects, including TAPS, barrages, and dams.

- Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and environmental regulations. - Oversee the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports.

- Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and risk evaluations for proposed developments.

- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery.

- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, mechanical, electrical, and environmental engineers.

Water Infrastructure Focus

- Design and supervise the construction of kolam takungan air (TAPS) for flood mitigation and water retention.

- Lead civil works related to barrage systems and dam structures, including hydraulic and geotechnical considerations.

- Collaborate with hydrologists and water resource specialists to optimize infrastructure performance and sustainability.

- Ensure safety and resilience of water infrastructure against climate and environmental risks.

Team Leadership & Development

- Assist the Civil Group Leader in managing team performance, workload distribution, and recruitment.

- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to enhance team capabilities.

- Promote knowledge sharing, training, and continuous professional development within the team.

- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.

Stakeholder Engagement

- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure alignment and approvals.

- Present technical solutions and project updates to internal and external stakeholders.

- Support business development efforts through proposal writing and client presentations

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education & Professional Certification

- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from a recognized university (Master's Degree preferred).

- Registered Professional Engineer (Ir.) with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) or equivalent.

- Additional certification in water resources engineering, project management (e.g., PMP), or structural design is an advantage.

Experience

- Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering design and project management.

- Proven track record in delivering medium-scale commercial, industrial, and institutional building projects.

- Strong experience in water infrastructure design and construction, including kolam takungan air (TAPS), barrages, and dams.

- Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing engineering deliverables.

Technical Skills

- Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro, MIDAS, HEC-RAS).

- Strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, geotechnical engineering, and flood mitigation systems.

- Familiarity with Malaysian standards (MS), British Standards (BS), Eurocodes, and other international codes.

- Ability to conduct structural and hydraulic analysis, prepare technical reports, and review construction drawings.
