Job Description

A database administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing an organization\'s databases to ensure their security, reliability, and efficient performance. They play a critical role in maintaining the backbone of digital information systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation, Configuration, Administration, Maintenance, and Troubleshooting of Databases (MYSQL, MS SQL Server, and Postgres) both on-premises and in the cloud.
• Responsibilities for this job role include installation and maintenance of the database systems, installation of upgrades and patches, performance tuning, capacity monitoring and management, backup and restore of databases, and following security/audit best practices. This also includes supporting lDR testing due to regulatory and audit needs.
• Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving database issues, working with other team members such as infrastructure and application developers as required
• Monitoring database health using standard DB tools as well as monitoring tools such as Dynatrace and Solarwinds
• Act as an SME for potential improvements to database design and to support the upcoming introduction of new services to end customers.
• Provide technical support, advice, and implementation for the various phases of development (DEV), user acceptance testing (UAT), production (PROD), and disaster recovery (DR), where applicable, for all database systems
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Business Analysts, Solutions Architects, Developers, Cloud Engineers, and Infrastructure Engineers in order to understand and meet requirements for the delivery of services related to databases

• MUST HAVE hands-on working experience implementing and supporting at least one of the following: MySQL, MS SQL Server, Postgres, and/or Oracle.
• Hands-on experience in Cloud PAAS databases such as AWS, GCP, Azure/Alibaba or Huawei Cloud RDS is a strong plus
• Knowledge and/or experience in Cloud platforms in general, such as AWS, GCP, Azure, Alibaba, and/or Huawei Cloud, is a strong plus
• Knowledge and/or experience in NoSQL databases, DB, etc. is a plus
• Strong OS administration skills in Windows and/or Linux
• Knowledge or experience in Database High Availability, e.g., Active-standby, active-active, Log Shipping, clustering
• Knowledge or experience in Schema objects, Partition Management, and index management
• Knowledge or experience in database tuning, including working with developers on query tuning.
• Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
• Good communication skills, both written and spoken,
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills include the ability to visualize and plan troubleshooting steps.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other parties toward a common goal

• A bachelor\'s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Information Technology or extensive work experience in lieu of a degree
• Preferably at least 3 years of related working experience.
• Certifications in MS SQL, MYSQL, Postgres, or Oracle are a strong plus
• Cloud Certifications in any of AWS, GCP, Azure, Alibaba, or Huawei Cloud are a strong plus
