Overview

As part of the Celestica Global Automation team, you will be the leader of a small Controls Design team that designs custom automation for Celestica's global requirements, including stand-alone cells and large robotic assembly lines. As a leader you bring experience in machinery design concepts, safety and global standards. With this knowledge you are comfortable working in a team environment to build world-class equipment.

In this role, you will report to the Standard Design Leader.

Technical

Design of Controls system for automation stations and assembly lines.
Analysis of inputs and User Requirements in order to determine function of equipment to be documented into Project Specification
Knowledge of system control using PLC & PC base control. Coding languages such as Java, Python, C++, JavaScript, C #, Visual Studio
Programming of complex machines with Codesys IEC 61131-3 PLCs
Ability to develop SW platform for automated machine , robots, machine vision systems, servos and Human Machine Interface.
Ensure a safe work environment for one's self and others when commissioning machines
Knowledge of fieldbuses including EtherCat
Ability to troubleshoot software issues and provide solutions during design review session
Ability to integrate into databases and MES using SQL language
Liaise with assembly personal and Electrical/Mech engineer in the completion of equipment and resolving problems
Prior experience with safety systems and software
Understanding of complex machines with multiple software platforms and the ability to integrate hardware such as screw guns, dispense systems, laser marking systems

Project Execution

  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Assist in preparing customer documentation
Provide technical information for engineering test and validation plan , operation manuals , SAT, FAT
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and procedures
  • Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings safely
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends and or travel as required in varying timelines
  • Ensure scheduled milestones are met
Travel
  • Expectation of travel to vendor/supplier locations is less than 15% of time, however may be exceeded in exceptional circumstances to meet project needs
Qualifications

Education
  • Has successfully completed either a University Degree or College Diploma in Electrical or Computer Engineering / Robotics Automation Technology
Experience
  • minimum 5 years in automation design at a machine integrator
Previous supervision of small team

Language

Fluent in English
Other languages will be an advantage
