Job Description

The job of an Research Analyst is one where we appreciate language skills, journalistic approach, and critical thinking aptitude. Our core job is to conduct search and analysis through reputable sources related to politically exposed persons (PEP), state-owned/invested enterprises (SOE/SIE), those involved in FATF predicate offenses, etc. The information collected and analyzed supports our clients with their due diligence and screening requirements to stay in compliance with their legal/regulatory obligations and risk management processes. The ability to convey risk-relevant information in a concise, impartial, and accessible manner to clients is essential. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate to work with a diverse and intellectually dynamic team of open-source analysts. SOME OF THE DAILY TASKS YOU WILL PERFORM: \xe2\x80\xa2 Using open-source research methods to capture information in the public domain. \xe2\x80\xa2 Identifying regulatory and financial risks such as money laundering, fraud, organized crime, narcotics trafficking, and corruption. \xe2\x80\xa2 Becoming familiar and staying up to date with guidelines and regulations to ensure accuracy and high quality of delivered work. \xe2\x80\xa2 Develop appropriate search queries to maximize research results. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: \xe2\x80\xa2 Acts as the subject matter expert responsible for conducting in-depth investigative research on specific AML/CFT related issues in Malaysia. \xe2\x80\xa2 Strongly focused on maintaining an extensive list of PEPs and SOEs. \xe2\x80\xa2 Maintains a high level of regional and country expertise by monitoring breaking news for relevant developments. \xe2\x80\xa2 Analyses a wide range of data sources in Asian languages to produce daily structured reports. \xe2\x80\xa2 Provides regular status updates on research projects to research manager. \xe2\x80\xa2 Works closely with peers to support assigned/ad-hoc research tasks. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING? \xe2\x80\xa2 Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or equivalent qualification in International Relations/Political Science, Finance/Accountancy/Banking, Business Studies, Commerce, Journalism, Linguistics/Languages. \xe2\x80\xa2 Native-level proficiency in any Asian language (eg: Malay/Mandarin) is required. \xe2\x80\xa2 Must possess keen attention to detail, excellent research, writing and analytical skills, and enjoy in-depth investigations to uncover difficult to access information. \xe2\x80\xa2 Very good use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to multi-task and prioritize research work in a fast-paced environment. ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE SKILLS: \xe2\x80\xa2 Candidates with AML related certifications would be at an advantage. \xe2\x80\xa2 Awareness of the socio-political context of the countries matching your language skills. \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience in conducting research across different countries in the APAC region.
