To deliver high-quality teaching, research, and academic support in the field of Environmental Health. The lecturer will contribute to curriculum development, student learning, and community engagement while ensuring that teaching and research activities align with the university's academic and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:Teaching & Learning
Deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions in areas related to
Environmental Health
, such as:
Environmental Toxicology
Waste Management
Occupational Health and Safety
Environmental Epidemiology
Public Health and Sanitation
Environmental Legislation and Policy
Supervise undergraduate and/or postgraduate student projects, dissertations, and research activities.
Develop and update teaching materials, course outlines, and assessment tools in line with programme requirements and accreditation standards.
Integrate innovative teaching approaches, including digital learning platforms and experiential learning.
Participate in academic advising, mentoring, and student performance evaluation.
Research & Scholarly Activities
Conduct research in Environmental Health or related fields leading to publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Collaborate with internal and external partners on research grants, projects, and consultancy activities.
Present research findings at national and international conferences.
Administration & Academic Management
Participate in departmental and faculty meetings, curriculum reviews, and quality assurance processes.
Assist in programme accreditation and compliance with
MOHE/MQA
standards.
Contribute to the preparation of academic reports, statistics, and programme documentation.
Community Engagement & Professional Development
Engage in community outreach and environmental health awareness programmes.
Maintain professional affiliations with relevant bodies such as
DOE, MOH, or EHOs
.
Pursue continuous professional development through training, workshops, and seminars.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in
Environmental Health
,
Environmental Science
,
Public Health
, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred).
Recognized teaching qualification or professional certification in Environmental Health is an advantage.
Experience:
Minimum
2-3 years of teaching experience
in higher education or relevant professional experience in environmental health practice, consultancy, or research.
Experience in
curriculum design, student supervision, or MQA/MOHE compliance
will be an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of environmental health principles, legislation, and risk management.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Research and analytical capability with evidence of scholarly output.
Proficiency in ICT and digital teaching tools (e.g., LMS platforms, MS Teams, Zoom).
