PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Use and apply appropriate learning, teaching, support and assessment methodologies in delivering high quality academic programs for students in the area of expertise and/or as assigned.
Prepare, upkeep and regularly update course materials to ensure documentation are up-to-date, available for sharing if requested including:
lecture notes/learning guide,
trainer's log/lesson plan,
evaluation form/questions,
students' hand-outs,
Slides/transparencies and relevant AVA materials, and
Other related materials for effective delivery of teaching / lecturing / tutorials.
Carry out research and produce publications, or other research outputs, in line with MMASB/ALAM objectives to explore new knowledge and promote ALAM's visibility and contributions to industry.
Supervise students' academic excellence and their projects or field trips, and, where appropriate, placements to maximize learning experience and promote pleasant learning environment.
Identify areas where current provisions need revision or improvement and contribute to the planning, design and development of objectives and material to ensure the content are up-to-date and in line with latest development and knowledge.
Select appropriate assessment instruments and criteria, assess the work and progress of students by reference to the criteria and provide constructive feedback to students to assess understanding and comprehension of the teaching and learning.
Ensure that module design and delivery comply with quality standards and regulations of MMASB/ALAM.
Engage in scholarship as and when required to support teaching activities and continually update knowledge to support ALAM's bottomline.
Extend, transform, and apply knowledge applied from scholarship to teaching and appropriate external activities including knowledge generation, knowledge exchange and knowledge transfer activities.
As module leader or programme leader, coordinate with others (such as support staff or academic colleagues) to ensure student needs and expectations are met.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 7 years of relevant working experience in Education industry.
QUALIFICATION:
Doctorate/PhD or equivalent in Maritime related studies/Business Administration or related discipline.
Possess Certificate of Competency Class 2.
For STCW programs/courses, seagoing and/or shoreside engineering experience and prior involvement with maritime education are added advantage.
