Lecturer, Media and Communication Full time/Contract Location: Miri, Sarawak We are seeking to appoint a teaching and research focus Lecturer to join the Faculty of Humanities and Health Sciences on a contract basis. The role holder will be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision and will be expected to make a significant contribution to research. Your key responsibilities: Deliver high quality teaching and assessment with a commitment to ongoing reflective improvement in teaching. To teach the following units (i.e. digital content creation, professional writing and analytical units): - NETS2000 Web Media - NETS1000 Digital Culture and Everyday Life - NETS2001 Writing on Web - NETS3010 Online Games, Play and Gamification - NETS1000 Web Communications - COMS3001 Media and Communications Capstone (Final-year student projects) Supervise undergraduate and post graduate students\' research projects/studies. Conduct high quality research, attract competitive grants and maintain an active record of publications. Contribute significantly to academic service, collegiality and engagement and external community engagement activities relevant to the discipline/profession. Selection Criteria: A PhD in a relevant discipline related to Digital Media/ Communication/ Media/ Internet Studies. Teaching experience at tertiary level and familiar with online teaching tools. Demonstrated high teaching skills and a reflective approach to teaching delivery, with an emerging record of contribution to scholarship in teaching. A strong understanding of pedagogical and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline. Industrial experience and significant involvement with industry or professional groups is highly regarded. A high level of English verbal and written communication. Ability to supervise postgraduate (Master by research and PhD) students. Ability to develop proposals for research funding, design research projects, lead and develop a research team. An established record of research output and personal achievements with recent refereed publications in media and communication studies. Demonstrated evidence of establishing and maintaining effective collaboration and reciprocal relationship with local, national or international activities in industry, community, organisations or government.
