Why does this job exist and why is it critical?
What are you accountable for?Legal support & advisory to business divisions within the Maxis group to facilitate contracts and dealings with third parties. Collaborate with various departments within the Maxis group especially the consumer business and sales & services, teams to understand their requirements and concerns with a view to provide legal advisory and support - this will facilitate the operations of the Maxis group while ensuring compliance Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts e.g. partnership and collaboration agreements with retail service providers, merchants, distributors, resellers, dealers etc. Draft and review customer's terms and conditions on retail product and services Provide legal advice on business operations relating to compliance such as areas involving the Consumer Protection Act 1999, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 and the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 Where required to interface, liaise and coordinate between Maxis group stakeholders and external counsel. Ensure Maxis' interests are protected while complying with laws and regulations when undertaking assigned duties and tasks. Balance legal issues against commercial requirements in the performance of assigned duties and tasks. Rendering pragmatic legal advice while ensuring legal compliance and Maxis' interests are protected Advice must be practical while ensuring Maxis' interests are protected and compliance with law observed

What do you need to have for this role?Degree in Law (LLB) Minimum 15 years' experience post being called to the Bar with at least 3 years in a private practice with a leading law firm Able to work independently Positive, passionate, collaborative Thrives in a challenging and dynamic environment Enjoys learning new things, meeting new people and working with diverse range of internal stakeholders. Critical thinking and good problem-solving abilities Strong communication, inter-personal and negotiation skills when dealing with counter-parties to a transaction as well as internal stakeholders.
