One of the largest financial services group in SEA offering commercial banking and specialist financial and wealth management services is seeking a high-calibre Legal Counsel. In this job, you will contribute to the continuous growth and success of the legal team.

About the Legal Counsel Role:
Reporting to the Head of Legal, this role is responsible to handle real estate banking and finance matters as well as general corporate advisory.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft, review and negotiate agreements essential to the business operations of the bank
• Develop, update and maintain standard documentation templates
• Identify and analyse potential legal issues and implications and provide legal advisory support to the business and support units of the bank
• Advise on new product development and review advertisements for clearance
• Communicate with external counsel and manage litigation commenced by or against the bank
• Monitor developments in law and regulations and advise on relevant changes and impact
• Manage other projects and work that may be assigned from time to time

To succeed in this Legal Counsel role, you will need to be a self-starter, capable and possess relevant prior experience to operate independently and collaborate across other team members and business departments.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor\'s degree in Law and a qualified lawyer in Malaysia
• Minimum of five years of PQE in a law firm, banking, external auditing and/or consulting in financial services
• Experience in real estate and general corporate advisory is advantageous
• Strong analytical and clear thought process abilities
• Proactive, resourceful and adaptable
• Good written/drafting, interpersonal and communication skills
