Job Description

The Legal Counsel role in the automotive industry requires an individual with a solid legal background to provide expert advice and support to the organization. This position is based in Selangor and involves overseeing legal matters to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.

• Draft and review legal agreements to safeguard the company's rights, ensure compliance, and mitigate potential legal risks.
• Prepare responses to customer correspondence, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with legal standards.
• Compile and maintain legal documentation and reports to support internal and external legal processes.
• Collaborate with external legal counsel on litigation matters, including drafting and reviewing witness statements, defences, and other court-related documents.
• Maintain and update the litigation database with current case statuses and relevant legal actions.
• Provide practical and timely legal advice to business units on issues arising from their operations.
• Support the Head of Legal with delegated tasks and contribute to broader legal initiatives as needed.

Market leaderGood company exposure

• Possess a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) degree from a recognized institution.
• Admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of post-admission experience as a Legal Associate or Senior Legal Associate.
• Proven experience in drafting and reviewing a wide range of commercial and operational agreements, including tenancy, supply, service, and confidentiality/non-disclosure agreements.
• Skilled in preparing and reviewing litigation documents for court proceedings.
• Familiar with drafting and reviewing defense statements for matters filed with the Consumer Tribunal.
• Demonstrates strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in legal documentation.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.
