Description General information:Based in Petaling Jaya, the Legal Counsel will be part of the Legal & Integrity function in the South-East Asia region, focusing on Malaysia, and may extend coverage to support Thailand, Philippines and Singapore, Reporting to Head of Legal based i Singapore, you will assist in providing legal advisory services and ensuring strategic and operational management of across the countries, including consulting on integrity issues.Responsibilities:Work with Head of Legal to provide legal advice and counsel to management and overseas all disputes and litigation matters. Assist Head of Legal in driving and ensure consistency in legal services and advice provided by the Legal & Integrity function to the respective Country Managers, Business Units and Region. Facilitate Head of Legal to ensure good corporate governance and adherence to integrity in the Countries including integrity training, ongoing monitoring of relevant policies. Negotiate contracts, agreements and other legal documents in collaboration with relevant business stakeholders. Provide legal support on ancillary matters including but not limited to data protection, intellectual property, insurance, M&A, trade finance and company secretarial matters. Monitor legal affairs and risk management of the Countries and Business, including litigation case management and co-ordination with external counsel. Proactively protecting business interests by anticipating and identify legal issues of concern to Management.Your background:A Bachelor\'s Degree in Law from a reputable law school/university and has called to Malaysian Bar Minimum 5 years of experience either in a law firm or in-house counsel (preferably both). Industry experience in engineering , energy, construction; mining; oil & gas; utilities or EPC would be welcome. Strong knowledge in contract and commercial law, contract drafting, litigation, negotiation and management Demonstrated ability to multi-task with good time management skills Detail-oriented with outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
