Job Description


A member of the AMEA Snacks Leadership team and a member of the AMEA legal LT, this role oversees the AMEA snacks legal agenda at two manufacturing sites in SEA.

  • This position leads the Legal team of the Snacks business and performs complex legal work for and involves close association and coordination with senior management.
  • In this management role, you handle strategic leadership and work closely with legal staff in the other AMEA region business units.
  • Being responsible for setting and delivering the Snacks regional strategy, based on business objectives and legal risk assessments in alignment with the larger organizational goals.
  • Provide clear ownership of the Snacks legal priorities across both manufacturing sites in the Region.
  • Provide higher visibility of legal matters and an undeniable counsel to cross-functional teams on a variety of complex issues including nuances in operating in a regulated environment with external stakeholders and regulators.
  • Monitoring and interpreting the legislative environment in which the company operates. Identify, research, and analyse legal issues that affect the snacks strategy and its activities at a local level in SEA and strategic long-term initiatives.
  • Experience with Legal support and regulatory advice relevant to the marketing function, relating to digital marketing, product claims and packaging, social media, direct to consumer activations.
  • Responsible for driving the inclusive culture of the organisation for the two manufacturing sites.
  • Lead complex legal projects that span legal, business, and functional boundaries (e.g., policy changes, subject matter areas like competition law and marketing laws);
  • Being responsible for risk mitigation and governance for two factories in SEA, supporting their operations and all legal support required on legal recoveries from incidents, contracting, and guidance on product issues; Leading all engagements with Regulators on Advertising alongside AMEA brands counsel and the local Regulators.
  • Guiding the Company in resolving any Regulator disputes and managing regulator interventions.
  • Responsible for advising on complex contracts alongside Transactions Legal Director and approving complex advertising and nutritional claims to avoid reputational issues alongside local BU counsel.
  • Developing and providing training to the snacks business in a variety of areas, including compliance.
  • Leading the local crisis management team, as required and manages matters including business interruption events, food safety and quality incidents, and matters potential impacting the reputation of the Company.
  • Being people manager for 2 business lawyers and oversight for their professional growth, capability development, team engagement, and workflow management.
  • Being lead counsel on a broad area of legal topics without overreliance on external counsel.
YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

Required:
  • A commercial lawyer with at least 10 years of experience in the fast-moving consumer goods industry, with at least 4 of those years in a senior legal role at a multi-national food company.
  • Law degree and current certification to practice law.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Experience in advertising and media law, and experience advising big brands.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced demanding legal environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (including drafting and negotiating) and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated and driven to develop legal capabilities and understand the Kellogg business.
  • Personal presence and professional ability to take ownership of projects as an individual contributor and team leader and be confident and firm with legal positions.
  • Track record of collaborating with multiple functions and demonstrating strong leadership in complex matters.

  • Excellent commercial awareness and strong relationship development skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in developing high performing team
  • The ability to communicate with all levels of the business and influence key stakeholders.
  • The ability to work cross functionally and across all levels.

  • Technical excellence in your understanding and communication of the law.
  • Competition law and Crisis management experience.
  • Experience of dealing with senior executives.
