- Mainframe Developer (COBOL)

Job Purpose

The Mainframe Developer is responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting mainframe-based applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and related technologies. The role involves system integration, performance tuning, maintenance of batch and online systems, and working closely with business and technical teams to deliver stable, scalable, and optimized solutions.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent technical certifications or a diploma in mainframe technologies may be considered for candidates with strong hands-on experience.

Certifications (Optional / Advantageous)

IBM Certified Specialist - COBOL Programmer IBM Mainframe Certifications (z/OS, CICS, DB2) Certifications related to software development, system integration, or banking/financial IT

Job-Specific Skills & Competencies

Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS, and VSAM. Hands-on experience with mainframe application development and batch processing. Knowledge of system integration and interfacing with internal/external systems. Skills in performance tuning, optimization, and debugging. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for resolving production issues. Familiarity with banking systems, enterprise processing, and financial domain processes. Good communication skills for effective interaction with technical teams and stakeholders. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and modernization frameworks.

Pay: RM11,000.00 - RM12,000.00 per month

Experience:

COBOL Development: 2 years (Required) COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, IMS, and VSAM.: 2 years (Preferred) mainframe application development and batch processing: 2 years (Preferred)
