Responsibilities:

  • To support the Head of WPB Compliance Advisory in assisting the senior management to comply with all applicable Group policies and standards, local laws and regulations; and ensuring a robust and effective compliance framework within HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad (HBMY) and HSBC Amanah Malaysia Berhad (HBMS) (collectively referred to as "HSBC Malaysia") and specifically, within Wealth and Personal Banking.
  • To assist Head of WPB Compliance Advisory to contribute to the containment of reputational, financial and legislative risks of HSBC Malaysia and HSBC Group companies in the provision of advice on the regulations, new and existing business and products/marketing collateral, including up to date the Compliance Training materials.
Impact on the Business
  • To provide support to Head of WPB Compliance Advisory, in the containment of compliance risks including regulatory, reputational and litigation risks from time to time as required.
  • To be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date compliance requirements for HSBC Malaysia and Group entities.
  • Assist Head of WPB Compliance Advisory in ensuring that there is a robust and effective Compliance framework in HSBC Malaysia and across Group entities
Customers/Stakeholders
  • Liaison with relevant stakeholder within WPB in Malaysia, other Global Business and Functional teams to provide expertise and support on all Regulatory Compliance related matters
  • To assist in interaction with Regulators and industry bodies in Malaysia, on Regulatory Compliance matters relating to WPB
  • To assist in enhancing compliance awareness amongst WPB staff
Leadership and Teamwork
  • To maintain and develop positive and professional working relationships with team members within the Compliance function and the relevant business lines.
Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification/ background in Compliance, Risk Management (including Operational Risk), Audit or Assurance, Legal, or Accountancy discipline.
  • Ability to comprehend the regulatory landscape in Malaysia, understand regulatory requirements and expectations and apply them together with HSBC Group Standards.
  • Pro-active in identifying regulatory compliance issues or developing appropriate recommendations/solutions.
  • Experience of interpreting and analysing a large volume of information and / or data and provide succinct summary for management.
  • Consistent follow-through in ensuring corrective or mitigating actions are put in place or closed out.
  • Detail-oriented, good analytical skills and have a solid understanding on governance, risk management and control framework, financial crime and regulatory compliance risks.
  • Self-driven, enthusiastic, independent, proactive, ability to work with minimal supervision and deliver under pressure against multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent time management. Proven quick learning capability and ability to adapt in a changing environment and reprioritise tasks is essential for this role.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with experience of dealing with executives at all levels including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management and policy in the language of business.
  • Strong team-player attitude. Able to work collaboratively with onshore and offshore Compliance Advisory team.
  • Possess good judgment in assessing and escalating issues requiring decision-making to the onshore Compliance Advisory team.
  • Having strong understanding of the HSBC Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime Compliance Risk Taxonomies and Control Library will be an added advantage.
