Job Title : Manager, Fund Services

Location : Vistra - Malaysia

Department: GSC MY - Fund Accounting

Position Description:

You will be responsible in leading and planning the training programme for GSC MY Fund accounting team. You will be responsible for managing a team of people involved in the general accounting, financial reporting as well as regulatory reporting. You will interact with clients, other offices and auditors as required.

Key responsibilities:

Trainer Role (70%)
  • Assist the Head of Department (HOD) in leading and planning the training programme for fund accounting team.
  • Creating training programme and preparing training materials for the training programme
  • Conducting trainings and be the main trainer for the training programme.
  • Training the new hirers and provide on-the-job training to new hirers during the probation period.
  • Providing close monitoring and guidance to new hirers during the probation period.
  • Leading the \xe2\x80\x9cTrain the trainer\xe2\x80\x9d program. Train all Managers/Assistant Managers to be the trainers in order for them to assist in the department training programme.
  • Assist in maintaining quality deliverables of the fund accounting team by analysing and identifying the skills which are lacking by fund accounting team. Planning and delivering the suitable refresher courses.
  • Providing trainings on any industry development or new technical aspects and arranging demos to the fund accounting team.
  • Participate in the pilot team in testing Investran system enhancement in relation to new functionalities (if any)
  • Assist in developing and rolling out initiatives with the objective of achieving efficiencies for fund accounting team in GSCs.
  • Supporting the coachers when necessary from technical aspects
Operational Responsibilities (30%)
  • Leading and managing a team and be responsible for overall delivery of fund administration services
  • Main point of contact on a day-to-day basis for operational matters and critical issues that need to be addressed before work get disseminated to the other team members
  • Reviewing financial statements, management accounts and accounting packages
  • Reviewing consolidation workings, where applicable
  • Proficient in drafting wordings for disclosure wordings for IFRS/US GAAP accounting conventions
  • Reviewing Capital Account Statements and Net Asset Values
  • Reading/understanding Fund documents like Subscription documents, partnership agreements, and shareholder agreements for existing/new clients and explaining the key terms to team members
  • Reviewing capital call and distribution notices
  • Preparing/Reviewing waterfall and equalization workings
  • Coordinating and dealing with Fund investors on meeting investor\'s specific reporting requirements
  • Reviewing investor requests.
  • Dealing with staff issues like leaves, sickness and other issues on a daily basis and ensuring staff are happy and motivated in their jobs
  • Assessing/planning the volume/level of work against timelines and disseminating daily work flows to other team members
  • Conducting formal staff evaluations
  • Conducting interviews for the fund accounting team
  • Ensures operational efficiency and effectiveness by improving overall processes through automation, continuous process improvement, reinforced controls, etc.
  • Actively review operational performance, identify trends, and assess opportunities for improvement and adoption of best practices.
  • Undertakes detailed planning to ensure that operational capacity matches demand.
  • Monitors SLA delivery to ensure that all agreed service levels are met or exceeded.
  • Flags anticipated SLA issues in a timely manner to the Head of Department of Fund Accounting so that a resolution can be agreed.
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of the Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) and regularly review and update to ensure that they continue to remain relevant and consistently applied.
  • Undertake general administration and other special projects as assigned
  • Assist in developing and rolling out initiatives with the objective of achieving short-term or long-term sustainable growth of the fund accounting team in GSC.
  • maintain relevant MI / KPI for all processes

Relevant Experience & Skills:
  • At least 7 + years of experience in Accounting, experience either with another Fund Administrator or Fund Manager and involved in real estate sector, part of which must have been in management or supervisory capacity
  • Solid understanding of operational and reporting functions
  • Demonstrate computer proficiency and working knowledge of various software
Educational Qualifications:
  • Degree in accountancy (CPA/ACCA/ACA ) or finance or equivalent.
  • Sound knowledge of Singapore FRS/IFRS and US GAAP
Computer Skills:
  • Strong working knowledge of EXCEL and MS Word
Languages:
  • English proficient
