BASF (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd was incorporated in 1989, and operates main office in Bandar Utama and a manufacturing plant in Pasir Gudang in Johor, as well as an operational site in Kulim, Kedah. BASF Asia-Pacific Service Centre Sdn Bhd began its operation in 2005. Located in Kuala Lumpur, the Shared Services Center provides functional services in the areas of finance, controlling, information services, human resources, environment, health & safety, procurement and import-export order management to BASF Group companies in 19 markets across Asia Pacific. BASF Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, established in 1997, provides infrastructure and utilities support services to BASF sites in Malaysia. BASF holds 60% of its joint venture BASF PETRONAS Chemicals Sdn Bhd, which operates a state-of-the-art Verbund production site in the Gebeng Industrial Zone, Pahang, and 50% of Toray BASF PBT Resin Sdn Bhd. Objectives of the position

The position is responsible for formulating and executing procurement sourcing (Source to Contract) strategy and facilitating Supply Chain Management initiatives across 6 countries (namely Bangladesh, Philippines, Pakistan, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar).

Main Tasks

Compliance and EHS:

• Ensure an appropriate process for monitoring, reporting, and reviewing the compliance standards and EHS performance is set in place
• Act as a role model and comply with all applicable laws, demonstrate a high level of social and ethical compliance, and ensure local employees adhering to all regulatory and BASF compliance standards

Source-to-contract, Indirect Procurement

• Ensure all managed purchases and that tenders and negotiations are conducted in a professional way to achieve optimal terms and to meet the needs of the internal Business Partners (iBPs) in countries
• Handle open PRs for assigned products and services of indirect procurement with defined thresholds, to do sourcing activity (source to contract - S2C)
• Work closely with requisitioners for smooth Source-to-Contract, Purchase-to-Pay process, timely delivery
• Manage the preparation and execution of major tenders and negotiations for key materials and services and ensure alignment with iBPs, such as Supply Chain Management, Environment Health and Safety, Transport and Distribution Safety, Legal, etc.
• Actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement to increase operational excellence, including the usage of procurement tools and systems

Supplier Relationship Management

• Establish contacts with the management of key suppliers to acquire information on service offerings and market trends and to enable timely settlement of issues
• Actively monitor the supplier landscape in country and build up new suppliers to enable them to meet BASF\'s standards and requirements in future, to ensure reliable supply at competitive prices and to manage supplier and price risks
• Address sustainability topics to protect BASF\'s reputation and reduce business risks from noncompliance with environmental, social or governance (ESG) standards

Internal Business Partner Relationship Management

• Establish regular communication with iBPs and discuss procurement activities, current requirements and future regarding materials and services to identify opportunities, address issues and create competitive advantage for BASF
• Align annual target agreements between Procurement and iBPs and ensure completion of all resulting action items

Supply Chain Management

• Leverage existing meaningful KPIs to track and steer and continuously improve Supply Chain performance
• Drive supply chain initiatives and projects to balance needs for growth, cost-to-serve optimization, and risk mitigation
• Identify and capture synergy in Supply Chain and Customer Service Management
• Lead knowledge management and develop talents within organisation
• Conduct root analysis and make documentation processes efficient to improve working capital management

Requirements

• Bachelor\'s degree in business administration, supply chain management or any other related subjects
• 8-10 years of relevant experience
• Buyer experience in a multinational environment would be highly preferred
• Experience in driving change management in a cross-country setting would be an advantage
• Experience in chemical industry would be an advantage
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• Expertise in procurement methodologies and processes as well as negotiation tactics
• Highly proactive, well-versed in intercultural management with strong business acumen, able to develop relationships with stakeholders
• Digital mindset and proficiency in leveraging digital tools effectively with sound knowledge in SAP
• Sound knowledge of environment, health & safety (EHS), transportation & distribution safety (TDS) and global trade control
