Job Description

BASF (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd was incorporated in 1989, and operates main office in Bandar Utama and a manufacturing plant in Pasir Gudang in Johor, as well as an operational site in Kulim, Kedah. BASF Asia-Pacific Service Centre Sdn Bhd began its operation in 2005. Located in Kuala Lumpur, the Shared Services Center provides functional services in the areas of finance, controlling, information services, human resources, environment, health & safety, procurement and import-export order management to BASF Group companies in 19 markets across Asia Pacific. BASF Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, established in 1997, provides infrastructure and utilities support services to BASF sites in Malaysia. BASF holds 60% of its joint venture BASF PETRONAS Chemicals Sdn Bhd, which operates a state-of-the-art Verbund production site in the Gebeng Industrial Zone, Pahang, and 50% of Toray BASF PBT Resin Sdn Bhd. Objectives of the position

  • Develops and grows sales in EP (Engineering Plastic) business of Performance Materials\' (A-PMA) in Malaysia as well as implement strategies and activities to realize the mid and long-term objectives of A-PMA.
  • Responsible for Key Accounts in EP business by strengthening relationship with key stakeholders, identifying and developing new business opportunities.
  • Generating leads, ensure profitable and sustainable business growth by leading activities on value pricing, customer contracts, business cases and product requirements.
  • Fulfil customers\' needs by liaising and communicating with internal stakeholders from Regional Business Management Team - Marketing, Commercial management, Technical Development, Technical Service, Product Management and Supply Chain Management.
Main Tasks

Hunt for New Opportunities and Application Development
  • Explores, identifies and develops new businesses.
  • In-depth understanding of customer needs, industry drivers, unique proportional values in order to recommend the best solution(s), leading to the achievement of value creation for the customers and BASF.
  • Concludes business contracts and maintain business growth at designated customers.
  • Provides accurate sales forecasting.
  • Contributes to development and implementation of segment, application, product and customer strategies to achieve sales targets.
  • Implements pricing strategy and supports launch of new products at key customers.
  • Organizes and conducts customer events such as Seminar, Technology Day and Technical Workshop for strategic customers to generate new business opportunities.
  • Provides prompt response related to quality, technical and application inquiries and other customer related issues
  • Conducts studies and analysis on market trend, competitors, products\' applications and technology.
Credit Management
  • Monitors the growth of the customers\' business, review and coordinate with credit control to make appropriate credit recommendations.
  • Follow-up on payment collections and ensure on-time payment from the customers.
Key Account Management
  • Manages, develops and grows sales at EP key account. As key account manager as appropriately assigned, leads projects and establishes relationship with key stakeholders at key account locally and at relevant tiers to drive business growth.
  • Implement key account plan in close co-operation with global and regional key account manager.
  • Coordinate and communicate with ASEAN sales team to ensure projects within the regions are captured.
  • Manages and implement strategies to grow sales at key local tiers.
  • Defines annual budget (Volume, Net Sales, CM1). Implements pricing policy at account. Defines, controls and tracks Account plan.
  • Supports Global / Regional KAM by providing customer information, price recommendation and competitors\' activities.
Customer Team
  • Promotes and supports EP businesses and activities in Malaysia by enhancing and strengthening Cross BU collaboration.
  • Identifies, develops and grows businesses for Customer Team by supporting and working closely with other Business Units through project and business collaborations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in engineering/ Polymer Science/Business Administration or Marketing
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial or technical experience preferably in Engineering Plastics (EP) serving in EP business.
  • Good verbal communication skills with entrepreneurial business acumen, polymer technical background and experience. Experienced in Key Account Management skillset. Possess a valid Class D driving license furnished with own vehicle.
