Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Architecture

Lead overall technical strategy, system architecture, and development roadmap for payment gateway platforms and business-critical applications. Design and maintain scalable, secure, and high-availability Fintech systems capable of handling high transaction volumes.

Software Development & Delivery

Oversee the design, development, integration, testing, and deployment of end-to-end payment solutions. Ensure adherence to secure coding standards, performance optimization, and software engineering best practices. Drive continuous improvement across development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and release management.

Regulatory Compliance & Security

Ensure full compliance with RMiT, PCI-DSS, and other relevant payment industry regulations. Embed security-by-design principles, including data protection, encryption, access control, and fraud prevention. Collaborate closely with Compliance and Risk teams to support audits, regulatory reviews, and security assessments.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team with strong technical and delivery standards. Provide architectural guidance, conduct code reviews, and set clear technical direction. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and operational discipline.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with Product, Compliance, Operations, and Business teams to align technology initiatives with business objectives. Translate business and regulatory requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.

Third-Party Integrations & Ecosystem Management

Manage integrations with banks, payment processors, e-wallet providers, QR payment platforms, and POS systems. Ensure interoperability, reliability, and compliance across all external systems and partners.

Operations, Reliability & Incident Management

Drive DevOps, monitoring, and observability best practices to ensure system stability and uptime. Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews. Ensure systems meet defined SLAs, availability, and performance benchmarks.

Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (Master's Degree is an advantage). Minimum 8 years of software development experience, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or senior engineering role. Proven experience delivering Fintech, payment gateway, or financial services systems. Experience managing mission-critical platforms with high transaction volume and availability requirements. Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles in financial and payment systems. In-depth knowledge of payment processing environments, including: Card-present and card-not-present transactions E-wallets and QR payments POS system integrations Solid understanding of Malaysia Fintech regulatory frameworks, particularly RMiT. Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and modern front-end frameworks (React Native, AngularJS, or equivalent). Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including transaction processing and reconciliation. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder communication skills. Ability to work independently, manage multiple initiatives, and deliver results under tight timelines.
