Job Title: Material Planner
Department: Operations \xe2\x80\x93 Supply Chain
FLSA Status: Exempt


Position Overview:
The direct Material Planner manages component and production planning, including direct material purchases required for production in Insulet\xe2\x80\x99s first US manufacturing facility. Executes established inventory and sourcing strategies to ensure component and product supply across the supply chain. Maintains manufacturing material and finished goods levels to achieve high service levels within financial targets. Key user for material management and related modules for inventory management and movement.

Responsibilities:

• Develops, maintains, and communicates a weekly production schedule for each production line to meet company\xe2\x80\x99s customer service and inventory objectives.
• Executes the placement of purchase orders for raw materials to meet demands of production schedule.
• Coordinates with S&OP Planning to maintain an up-to-date production forecast that supports the company\xe2\x80\x99s objectives.
• Provides revisions to production schedules when necessary and raw material status updates to Plant Operations leadership.
• Oversees relationships with suppliers to expedite or defer materials as dictated by changes in internal and external customer requirements and to meet production and inventory objectives.
• Manages tactical communication with critical suppliers and develops contingency plans by ensuring competitive sources of supply to support US production efforts.
• Provides short and long-term forecasts to critical suppliers to drive capacity discussions when needed and takes appropriate action to navigate future capacity constraints.
• Participates in required raw material inventory cycle counts and works with Supply Chain leadership to reconcile inventory and identify variances when necessary.
• Reviews short, medium, and long-term component supply positions to achieve target safety stock levels based on finished goods forecast and production schedule.
• Develops and maintains reports relating to raw material planning process, including availability and cost pertaining to material waste and production downtime.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field preferred; supply chain concentration preferred.
• 2-5 years of experience as a Buyer/Planner, preferably in a Medical Device Environment
• Professional certification a plus

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

• Experience with ERP/MRP
• Experience with SAP Software preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office \xe2\x80\x93 emphasis on Excel
• Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities.
• Cooperative, team player and positive attitude a must
• Strong service-orientation
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Multi-language fluency preferred (English, Malay, Mandarin)
