- Fire Protection Engineer1. System Design & Technical Review
Design and review fire protection systems including hydrants, sprinklers, gas suppression systems, foam systems, and related fire safety equipment.
Ensure designs comply with NFPA, Malaysian Standards (MS), UL/FM-listed product requirements, and local authority (BOMBA) regulations.
Prepare layout drawings, hydraulic calculations, Bill of Quantities (BOQ), and material specifications using AutoCAD or relevant design software.
Review design proposals and provide technical recommendations for system improvement and constructability.
2. Project Coordination
Coordinate with clients, consultants, site teams, and internal M&E departments to ensure fire protection system designs align with overall project requirements.
Provide technical support to procurement when preparing specifications, evaluating vendor/subcontractor proposals, and selecting equipment.
Supervise and verify fire protection installations on-site to ensure compliance with approved drawings and technical standards.
Attend project meetings, technical discussions, and coordination sessions with consultants and stakeholders.
3. Inspection, Testing & Commissioning
Plan and witness pre-commissioning activities including pressure tests, flushing, flow tests, and functional testing of fire protection systems.
Ensure final commissioning and handover are executed according to project requirements and regulatory compliance.
Conduct site inspections and audits to verify system quality, safety compliance, and operational reliability.
Prepare and submit testing documentation, commissioning reports, and relevant compliance documents to consultants or authorities.
4. Documentation & Regulatory Compliance
Prepare and compile as-built drawings, Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, and other project documentation as required.
Ensure all documentation meets BOMBA, SCDF, or other authority requirements for inspection, approval, and certification.
Assist in authority submissions and coordinate site inspections with regulatory officers for system approval.
5. Safety, Quality & Standards
Monitor site work to ensure it complies with safety protocols, QHSE standards, and statutory regulations.
Identify non-conformances, initiate corrective actions, and participate in quality audits and toolbox meetings.
Provide feedback for continuous improvement in design practices, installation methods, and material selection.
6. Ad-Hoc Duties
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager or Engineering Lead based on project needs.
Participate in internal training, workshops, and vendor product demonstrations to stay updated with latest fire protection technologies.
Assist the tendering team with cost estimation, technical proposals, or BOQ preparation when required.
