ATB is owned by Vitol and it is the 7th crude refinery plant in Malaysia. Located at Pontian, Johor Darul Ta\'zim, the 32kbpd refinery, is well-positioned to supply both the local bunkering and growing energy markets across the region.

The refinery neighbours VTTI-owned ATB terminal which includes over 1m m3 storage as well as 6 onsite jetties and can accommodate any size or type of tanker. This unique positioning enables us to offer our customers a secure and fully integrated supply chain, from production and blending of quality marine fuels, to storage and delivery.

Designed to be highly energy-efficient, the refinery deploys state-of-the-art technology including a distillation unit with a prefractionation column.



We are seeking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team and act as the go-to person in the refinery for resolving technical issues regarding mechanical engineering, providing advice to technicians and contractors and constantly seeking to implement measures to improve safety, reliability and profitability of the plant.

The ideal candidate should have experience working in a refinery or similar industrial setting and possess a strong understanding of the static and rotating equipment of a refinery.

Job responsibilities include:

• Supervises the installation, maintenance, repair and testing of a wide range of static and rotating equipment in the refinery
• Provide technical guidance to technicians and contractors, ensure compliance with international, industry, company and safety standards
• Research and recommend value improvement steps to the refinery
• Participates in and personally carries out the complex installation, repairs and maintenance of a variety of valves, piping, vessels, towers, structural and equipment installations
• Inspects the work of maintenance team and contractors carrying out related work in the refinery and tank farm to ensure compliance with specified terms and conditions
• Reviews regular reports provided by contractors to assess work progress and status, highlight discrepancies or areas requiring improvement and assist the contractors in resolving issues encountered
• Ensures the observance of safety and fire regulations, good housekeeping and that materials are salvaged and reconditioned wherever possible and proposing improvements
• Develop maintenance plans, technical manuals and company standards

• 10 - 15 years of hands-on, relevant experience in a petrochemical or oil & gas industry
• Good University Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Possess knowledge of refinery CMMS systems, HSE and PTW procedures

• Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Able to communicate effectively in both spoken and written English
• Able to work independently and collaborate as a team-player, with an open non-political style and a high level of personal integrity
