The activities are focused on maximising profits by optimising production and minimising deferments while protecting long term asset integrity.You will have the opportunity to be in a role that directly safeguards the cash generated from production, through ensuring integrity of flow measurements, while developing core competence in Perform Hydrocarbon and Energy Accounting (PHEA) & Metering. This position safeguards commercial interests of our business through the measurement to cash process, especially for production systems in Malaysia with unique challenges due to multiple stakeholders, interdependent physical network and complex commercial arrangements.Where You Fit InThis role covers the Shell Malaysia Upstream \xe2\x80\x93 Shell Operated Assets both in Sarawak and Sabah and may provide support to Non-Operated Assets where required. The specific assignment to an Asset or hub is defined by the PHEA & Metering Lead based on prevailing business requirements. This is a development role coached by the JG4 Metering Engineer as senior.About the RoleThe main purposes of the role are as follows:

  • To support the Asset\xe2\x80\x99s operated facilities to ensure safe, accurate and reliable performance of flow metering systems particularly those with direct impact to Hydrocarbon Allocation (HCA) and Greenhouse Gase (GHG) data to safeguard asset\xe2\x80\x99s allocated production.
  • To provide or secure technical advice and support for metering management, operation, plant change design/engineering, and maintenance.
  • On request/opportunity basis, to provide technical advice/support related to metering systems leveraging on experiences in managing asset metering systems to greenfield and/or brownfield projects.
  • To progressively develop Metering competences to maintain the health of the metering systems.
The specific accountabilities and tasks of this role are as follows:
  • To act in accordance with the Policy on Health, Safety and Environment and execute all activities accordingly.
  • To ensure safe, accurate, and reliable performance of Flow Measurement equipment/Metering systems that measures volumes (quantity) and quality of product, with special focus on HCA and GHG impacting meters.
  • To deliver accurate, timely, and traceable data from the equipment into the hydrocarbon accounting system to ensure compliance to regulatory and contractual requirements from Petronas Governance Standards and Shell Standards - PHEA as well as official documented procedures.
  • To support development of an annual plan for calibration, validation and other planned maintenance for Class 1, 2, 3 and 4 measurement systems, including samplings, based on Shell standards and local requirements as well as meter operational performance and previous calibration outcomes. Maintenance and calibrations activities are to be recorded in a Maintenance Management System (SAP) and Petronas Integrated Measurement Monitoring and Inventory System (IMMIS).
  • To ensure compliance to Governance and Performance requirements as stipulated in Petronas Governing Standards with outcome as reflected in annual assessment by Petronas via Contractors Compliance Index (CCI) rating. Ensure commitment to deliver Measurement Integrity and Maintenance Efficiency and timely submission of Validation/Calibration Reports in IMMIS.
  • To ensure timely update of Measurement/Metering related Documentations e.g. Inspection & Maintenance Practices (IMP), Standardized Planned Maintenance Task-lists for Metering Class 1 & 2 Equipment, Instrument Metering Maintenance Guidelines, etc.
  • To support the analysis of metering calibration reports. Monitor and validate that correct meter factors are used and also ensure that an auditable trail exists for any changes to configured parameters in measurement and HCA systems.
  • To work collaboratively with the Maintenance Work Preparation team, Integrated Activity Planning team, Operations team, Multi-disciplines Engineering team, and Contracting & Procurement team in managing and monitoring completion of Metering Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance work orders.
  • To work collaboratively with the Frontline Team (onshore or offshore), Production Support Engineering team, and PHEA & Metering team in investigating issues or regarding to work order notifications involving production measurements. Provide metering support (where require) until resolution of the issue.
  • To ensure timely submission/sharing of metering Irregularity Reports.
  • To monitor and manage delivery of metering contract services.
  • To support metering-related Management of Change (MOC), Manage Threats and Opportunities, Initiatives or Projects by working collaboratively with Process, Automation, Control and Optimisation (PACO), Projects and other relevant disciplines in maturing the work scopes throughout its lifecycle. To provide technical advice/support to greenfield and/or brownfield projects related to metering systems leveraging on experiences in maintaining operability of measurement systems in new projects and associated procedure (on request/opportunity basis).
What We Need from You
  • An Engineering degree with deep grounding on the Instrumentation/ Controls & Automation / Electronics/ Computer Systems with more than 5 years of experiences in Metering Systems in the upstream oil and gas environment.
  • With past experiences dealing with production and allocation reporting.
  • Willing to travel offshore for onsite activities execution.
  • Familiar with international standards (ISO, AGA, API) related to metering & local requirements such as Petronas Governing Standards.
  • Possesses strong analytical skills and able to understand the complexity of the upstream oil and gas production processes, identify potential opportunities and threats, and pro-actively work out recommended solutions.
  • Well versed with business software applications such as Kelton, Maintenance Management System (SAP), Microsoft Office, Power BI, Energy Component, etc.
  • Proven track record of strong delivery and able to deliver workloads with minimal supervision. Exhibit Enterprise First behavior and proven ability to integrate across various disciplines and external stakeholders to find common ground, resolve issues and achieve mutual benefits.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English & Bahasa Malaysia (verbal and written).
  • Working hours flexibility in case of offshore travel and site visit activities occurring at non-standard times.
