Job Description


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage subordinate team members and oversee the full cycle accounts payable process, including establishing objectives in support of the company\'s strategy for the department and ensuring staff is appropriately trained to perform assigned work.
  • Provide and develop progress reports and metrics to management and cross-functional stakeholders to monitor the state of the department.
  • Proactively identify, develop, and lead the implementation of policies and procedures to streamline accounts payable process.
  • Participate in month end closing consisting of AP accruals and open AP verification.
  • Lead projects related to AP department.
  • Partner and build cross functional relationships with business partners (e.g., business units, supply chain, indirect sourcing, Corporate/ Regional Finance) to resolve any vendor/payment issues and improve communication with internal and external customers.
  • Ensure SOX compliance over the accounts payable area; manage and oversee corrective action on any audit items. Review and update SOX narratives annually or as needed.
  • Proactive in risk control under JAPAC dynamic market environment.
  • Lead opportunities for process improvements and upgrade service level from current operational related work to an elevated support for a fast-paced growth.
  • Other incidental duties.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in related field with 10 years of previous experience in accounts payable including demonstrated track record in managing accounts payable staff required.
  • Advance/expert understanding of AP procedures, processes, and system while addressing issues with impact beyond own team.
  • Ability to analyze and identify potential adjustments and drive/facilitate discussions to drive change and alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage assigned team and provide coaching and feedback, including responsibility for all employee actions including hire/fire authority and partnering with HR on all aspects of employee relations.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across the organization to influence and achieve objectives.
  • Understanding of fraud risk and controls to mitigate against payment risks.
  • Lead initiatives to mitigate against potential fraud or compliance related risks.
Additional Skills:
  • Proven successful project management expertise.
  • Proven expertise in MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel, financial systems, and ERP systems (e.g., JDE, SAP); Database tools (e.g., QlikView) preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills; possessing strong collaboration skills in partnering with cross functional stakeholders in order to achieve objectives, as well as mediating and negotiating the needs of other areas to achieve consensus.
  • Excellent planning and problem-solving skills in managing AP end-to-end processes plus daily operations.
  • Extensive understanding of financial procedures while defining team operating standards and ensuring essential procedures are followed based on knowledge of own discipline.
  • Extensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), local GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
  • Understanding of business acumen and company related products.
  • Extensive understanding of related aspects of financial processes and/or systems.
  • Ability to manage assigned team and provide coaching and feedback, including responsibility for all employee actions including hire/fire authority with guidance and partnering with HR on all aspects of employee relations.
  • Strict attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels and proactively escalate issues to appropriate levels of management in the organization.
  • Ability to work and excel within a fast paced, dynamic, and constantly changing work environment.
  • Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control.
