About the role

Model Maker - Operations Engineer is responsible to create physical models of product blueprints through Polyurethane Vacuum Casting & Silicone rubber mould. The role will also collaborate with RDD on sample built, assembly and design requirement.

Primary role duties:

Accurately interpret and visualize preliminary designs and create models using Silicone Rubber Mould

Ensure Models & samples built are within specification & requirement.

Collaborate with RDD engineers to develop design concepts and functional prototypes for testing

Develop & document process technique for continuous improvement

Evaluate samples defect root cause & determine appropriate corrective actions.

Secondary/additional role duties:

Responsible maintaining good housekeeping in the lab & ensuring compliance with Safety & Health guideline in workplace.

Coordinate with external parties for outsource job, material purchases and machine services.

Review and compare technical specifications for new technology and machines.

About you

Previous work experience:

Minimum 6 to 8 years working experience in industrial design, engineering and prototype model making, SRM & vacuum casting operations, and product finishing working knowledge of core discipline.

In-depth knowledge in engineering plastic material - mechanical & technical data and capable of recommending suitable type of engineering plastic material for mock-up, finishing that required for display and mock-up functional application.

Previous working experience in advanced and prototype engineering will be added advantage.

Intermediate knowledge of reading engineering drawings.

Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Intermediate knowledge of 3D CAD modelling

Familiar with plastic / metal part design and manufacturing processes.

Intermediate organizational and planning skills.

Specific technical qualifications/exposure:

Knowledge of engineering science and technology

Ability to come up with new ways of doing things.

Behaviours necessary for success:

Good time management skills on individual tasks and when coordinating work with other.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Ability to gather information & problem solve with a systematic, logical approach. This will often be for issues with no pre-precedent. Expected to be able to resolve problems effectively while managing stakeholders\' expectations.

Ability to provide independent opinions/viewpoints to a problem with sound evidence and assess multiple opinions/viewpoints independently, recognising evidence & able to determine technical direction in specialist areas.
