Job Description


Our client is in the Oil & Gas industry, LNG Project Mission Know all the corrosion phenomena, metallic and non- metallic materials, corrosion control and monitoring strategies for onshore plants, offshore and floaters topside facilities related to Oil and Gas industry, Refinery processes, Urea and Ammonia plants. Apply major industry practices, standards and regulations related to material selection and corrosion Perform corrosion rate calculations and analysis, selection of materials and additional corrosion control measures Provide specialized assistance and technical support to fabrication and construction phases. Coordinate failure analysis activities through qualified laboratories Tasks The Engineer executes the activities within own area of responsibility, ensuring the compliance with the QA/QC and HSE requirements. Tasks include: A - Know How, Research and Development Technology and Commercial Support Provide up to date information and support to technical, commercial and field depts. for developing sound engineering practices, specifications and procedures in the field of competence Ensure that all activities performed in the field of competence are carried out following latest technical and scientific developments Promote Saipem involvement in Research and Development projects of relevance in the field of materials and corrosion Develop and update the Corporate data base BDMC with all technical documents about used materials, applied corrosion control measeres and lessons learned (including failure analysis reports) for all environments present in Oil and Gas, Refinery, Urea and Ammonia plants B - Feasibility phase Provide technical support to other disciplines in the field of competence C-Bidding phase/Commercial proposal development Estimation of engineering manhours Examine project documentation (applicable standards and specifications) in order to identify and report to project critical issues in the field of competence Examine process and basic design data to evaluate their impact on the material selection activity Identify main material degradation mechanisms and perform or validate material selection suggesting cost saving strategies whenever possible Identify areas/items/loops where cathodic protection, coating, lining or chemical inhibition and treatment are required for corrosion prevention or as cost saving alternatives to the selection of corrosion resistant materials When possibile calculate corrosion rate and corrosion allowance by means of qualified and validated commercial softwares or internally developed tools Establish or endorse material requirements for critical services (amine, urea, caustic, hydrogen, sour, low and high temperature environments) and transfer them to the involved disciplines Issue engineering documents of competence (Material Selection Diagrams, Material Selection and Corrosion Control Report/Philosophy, Critical Services Materials Requirements Specification, UT Thickness Baseline Technical Specification, Corrosion Risk Analysis Study, Corrosion Loop Diagrams, Corrosion Management Program) Share corrosion control and material selection strategies with all involved process disciplines by actively participating to design review meetings Coordinate material testing in selected laboratories for qualifying materials for use in severe services, especially materials operated in Urea, H2S and high temperature environments Define the Corrosion Monitoring Philosophy Provide support for the development of the Risk Based Inspection Plan (RBI) D - Project Execution and Operational Phase Provide support to field during construction and installation in order to cope with material degradation issues Coordinate failure analysis activities performed at qualified laboratories and contribute to RCA definition
