A Snapshot of Your Day
The On-Site Machining Specialist (OSM)\'s Day starts either in an office environment, on-site or in a tooling facility. He is responsible to support the Project Teams with the analysis of machining requirements of our service projects across the Region Asia-Pacific and provide relevant instructions and guidance to Project Management, Planning Teams, and Tooling Facility. The OSM-Specialist will prepare the relevant work scope for execution on site in collaboration with the Tooling facility engineers, check the condition of the mobile machining equipment, support with necessary maintenance, adjustments, or repairs for the mobile machining equipment to be ready for site execution, and determine required machining consumables and other materials. During on-site execution the OSM-Specialist will accurately set up and adjust the machining equipment, conduct the machining operations, monitor, and adjust the equipment or CNC-programming to deliver the required quality and accuracy in a timely and safe manner together with a small team. Throughout the day, the OSM-Specialist is required to communicate with outage manager, other engineers, and team members on-site to coordinate tasks, resolve technical issues, and ensure that the machining activities align with the overall project timeline and objectives. He may also be required to supervise and/or provide guidance to subcontracted off-site machining activities, execute simple machining tasks on customer or 3rd-party stationary machinery or support the Field Service Engineers on-site with mechanical assembly tasks.
Aside from on-site activities, the OSM-Specialist may be involved in research and development activities to explore new On-Site Machining techniques, or technologies to improve efficiency and quality in his field of expertise. He will be working closely with the local Field Service team on training, maintenance, and execution strategies. Safety and quality are the main drivers throughout the day, ensuring that all machining activities adhere to safety and quality regulations and best practices to minimize the risk of accidents, hazards in the workplace or cost overrun.
