Position : Perishable Buyer

Department : Merchandising

Reporting Line : Merchandising General Manager

Overview

The buyer is responsible for the development of the business within his jurisdiction. His responsibility include day to day's operation, purchasing and services to the business, while ensuring the supply of goods into the business is managed effectively, efficiently a competitive cost, and to work closely with supplier to optimize the bottom line.

Main Tasks

Responsible for purchasing and stocking, while ensuring the orders are timely and accurate to monitor inventory Identify customer preferences and forecast consumer trends. Evaluate supplier options according to prices, quality, etc and determine the best choice. To propose quality items at competitive prices that are useful to the company's bottom line. May need to predict, foresee, expect what consumers will buy, by forecasting next season's trends. Manage suppliers' relationship, including quality and supply issues, improving suppliers' performance and building successful supply chain partnership. Conduct market survey on pricing, new items,etc and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunity. Control buying records to ensure information is up to date and accurate at all times. Communicate with vendors / suppliers to negotiate pricing, discounts, terms and transportation arrangements. Contribute positively and constructively to the Buying Team. Attend events, fairs and exhibitions to remain up-to-date with the market's trends.

Job Requirement

Candidate must possess at least Diploma, degree or equivalent. Must be able to speak and write Bahasa Malaysia and English language. Minimum of 1-2 years of working experience in a food retail/food supplier/food distribution environment Proven experience as a retail buyer or relevant role Familiarity with market research, data analysis and forecasting techniques. Possessed negotiation skills to work with suppliers and make profitable deals for the company. Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability communicate across different levels of an organization Computer skills a must. Must be able to work independently and be details oriented with the ability to demonstrate problem solving skill.

Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM4,000.00 per month
