Job Description


As a manager, set priorities for the team, get results across boundaries, ensure an inclusive work environment, develop employees, and manage performance. Supervise production operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures. Ensure smooth production operation during shift. Cooridinate and Partner with 24/168hr peers to ensure cross shift execution and consistencies in business practices. Develop Exempt Mfg Supervisors competencies in Operational Strategies, Project management and effective Employee relations/Management practices. Train and coach production employees. Conduct employee performance reviews. Responsible for shift schedule to include: work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment, backup for absent employees, and shift rotations. Coordinate production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers. Coordinate with Human Resources for appropriate staffing levels. Schedule and conduct shift meetings. Responsible to meet shift production goals. Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs). Ensure a clean and safe work area. Responsible for Emergency Response capabilities on shft as well as developing solid preventative injury and safety programs. Qualifications Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Minimum Qualifications: The candidate must possess a bachelor\'s degree in STEM or a related field with 6+ years of direct factory experience A strong relevant technical background and understanding of Factory Equipment and Process, and high influencing and leadership skills. Practical experience in high volume inventory manufacturing management and understanding of factory information systems Preferred Qualifications: 8+ years of Inventory Management experience and understanding of factory information systems. 2-3 years of direct people management experience leading teams in a start-up Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research. The Captain of the Shift will be responsible for but not limited to: The COS is responsible for managing Tactical Operations of the Factory and leads the shift team. Leads the containment and escalation/resolution of acute events around Safety, Quality, People, and Operations. Achieve the Factory goals primarily through facilitation of the shift Tactical Operations and the consistent setting of tactical priorities on shift and 7x24 partnership with the Shift Group Leaders. The COS will partner across fabs/departments (Production, Industrial Eng., Automation, Planning, Fab, Bump, Wafer Sort, Die Prep, Die Sort, Wafer Level Assembly, etc.) to transfer, integrate and ramp new technologies utilizing HVM (High Volume Manufacturing) systems, to include benchmarking, developing, implementing and continuously improving operational standards, best-known methodologies, and multiple business processes and systems. This will also include identifying and evaluating alternatives or contingencies to any start-up/ramp barriers. Develop a solid working relationship with the 7X24 COS team to drive and maintain consistency and standardization in factory operations. Determine proper use of priority expedites, utilizing th e available shift resources, and making tactical line management and long downtime decisions. Take a vast amount of information and condense it to a clear crisp message of factory priorities The ideal candidate should exhibit the following behavioral traits: Apply theoretical knowledge to actual factory situations in a real-time, high cadence manner. Influence at all levels of the organization from Factory Manager to MT (Manufacturing Technicians) to drive factory performance and optimize factory metrics. Practical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing is necessary so that the COS can effectively coach modules and effectively solve problems. COS must have extensive factory operations experience and in-depth theoretical knowledge of Factory Physics and Supply Chain Management. Additionally, COS must be able to apply this theoretical knowledge to actual factory situations in a real-time, high cadence manner. Effectively coach/train shift GL\'s (Group Leads) on Manufacturing science, Capacity Metrics, In-line and End-of-Line defect and excursion prevention/response, Model Based Problem Solving, and People Management.
