Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is recruiting a Pre-Contract Commercial Advisor to join its Operations business supporting energy clientele in the Asia Pacific (APAC) West region. This is a permanent role within the Commercial team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Reporting to the Commercial Lead, you will perform the full range of pre-contract commercial activities from input to proposals preparation, commercial completion of proposals, pricing, and negotiation of commercial models, general post award administration and contract commercial close out activities. In this fast-paced role, you will partner with a diverse range of stakeholders, including operational and functional teams, to support commercial risk management, enhance project delivery and maximise value creation for Wood.

Your deliverables and responsibilities will include:

  • Performing pre-contract tender activities including support to the proposals team in terms of performing commercial review of tender documentation, cost preparation, preparing commercial qualifications, coordinating commercial and legal qualifications
  • Liaising with all key functions including Engineering, Tax, Global Mobility, Insurance, Legal, treasury and legal to ensure proposals are aligned with wood strategies and tender governance
  • Ensuring that the approval process is followed and that all necessary approvals are obtained
  • Ensuring rate build ups and prices included within the final tender submissions are accurate, complete and are prepared on time to meet deadlines
  • Supporting in pre-tender client engagements to influence commercial strategy and prepare pricing methodology
  • Reviewing tender and contract documentation, identifying risks and promote suitable commercial mitigation strategies
  • Assisting with the effective handover of commercial matters from pre-contract to post contract phase of projects
  • Input to monthly commercial management reports
  • Liaising with various internal customers (Tax, Legal, Insurance, Project Controls) during preparation of pre contract submissions

Skills / Qualifications

You ideally will have worked in similar Pre-Contract Commercial Advisor role within the Construction or Oil & Gas industry, with proven knowledge and experience across tendering, key contracting concepts, principles and commercial risk management.

You will also be degree qualified from a recognised institution, in either one of the following:
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Construction Management
  • Engineering
  • Business Administration / Commerce
In addition you will be able to:
  • Demonstrate commitment to Wood and client core values
  • Demonstrate commitment to Wood Commercial Process and Procedures
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal \xe2\x80\x93 including presentation skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a culturally diverse and multi-disciplined team
  • Proactive approach to tasks with diligent attention to detail
  • A \xe2\x80\x9csolutions mindset\xe2\x80\x9d with the ability to work under pressure while being able to consistently deliver within complex environment
  • Highly skilled user of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
