Job Description

Position Overview:



The Preschool Principal is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the preschool's operations, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children, staff, and families. The principal acts as the leader in driving the vision, mission, and goals of the preschool while maintaining compliance with local regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Leadership and Management



Develop and implement the preschool's mission, vision, and philosophy of education. Supervise and provide guidance to teaching and non-teaching staff. Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional culture among the staff. Lead by example in areas of communication, problem-solving, and professionalism.

2. Curriculum and Educational Standards



Oversee the development and implementation of the preschool curriculum. Ensure compliance with local early childhood education laws and standards. Regularly assess and update teaching methods and materials to enhance learning outcomes. Conduct observations and evaluations of teaching practices to ensure quality.

3. Operations, Financial and Administration Management



Manage the daily operations and budget of the preschool, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. Ensure adherence to licensing, health, and safety requirements. Maintain accurate records of staff, students, and operations. Develop and enforce policies and procedures for the preschool. Oversee tuition collection, financial reporting, and related administrative tasks. Prepare and submit reports to regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and the management board as required.

4. Parent and Community Engagement



Serve as the primary point of contact for parents regarding school activities, policies, and their children's progress. Organise parent-teacher meetings, workshops, and events to foster community involvement. Address and resolve concerns or conflicts raised by parents. Build relationships with local communities, stakeholders, and organisations to enhance the preschool's reputation and resources.

5. Staff Development



Recruit, hire, and train qualified staff members. Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for teachers and staff. Conduct regular staff meetings to align goals and address challenges. Manage staff performance appraisals and provide constructive feedback.

6. Student Enrolment and Admissions



Develop and oversee student recruitment and enrolment processes. Organise open houses, tours, and parent orientations to attract prospective families. Ensure that enrolment targets are met and maintained.

7. Student Development and Welfare



Ensure all children have access to a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment. Promote children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Handle disciplinary issues in a fair and developmentally appropriate manner. Ensure the well-being of all students and maintain strong communication with families about their progress.

8. Facility Management



Ensure the preschool environment is clean, safe, and conducive to learning. Oversee maintenance and procurement of supplies, equipment, and educational materials. Develop and implement emergency response plans and ensure staff training.

Required Qualifications and Skills:



Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Management, or a related field A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in teaching or educational leadership, preferably in a preschool setting. Strong knowledge of early childhood development and education standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to incorporate good command in written and spoken English Leadership and team-building abilities. Organisational and time-management skills. Proficiency in budgeting, people management and financial management. Candidate must be willing to work at Kuala Lumpur area (KLCC, Bangsar, KL Sentral, or Sri Hartamas)
