About the Role

We're seeking a qualified lawyer in Malaysia to join our global Privacy Team. We're looking for a junior-to-mid level Privacy Counsel who will provide privacy expertise across APAC, support business units in managing data protection obligations, help build scalable privacy processes and grow their legal privacy expertise in a collaborative and global environment.

This role offers a clear development path toward more senior responsibilities, with the possibility of evolving into a Senior Counsel role over time (training provided).

What You'll Do

Lead the resolution of Data Subject Rights requests including the automation process. Provide data protection and privacy program expertise to stakeholders in the APAC region. Draft and review Data Privacy and Data Transfer Agreements in coordination with local internal counsel. Develop and review privacy notices and cookie notices. Research and document complex processing operations, ensuring appropriate lawful basis of processing and data transfer documentation. Monitor changes in APAC privacy regimes and share insights with the Privacy Team and business leaders. Apply the principles of Privacy by Design in advising business units. Conduct, support, and evaluate Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs). Support the efficient operation and continuous improvement of corporate privacy processes, including breach reporting, data retention, data subject rights reporting, records of processing, and PIAs. Assist in the communication of the corporate privacy program, demonstrating clear presentation and influencing skills. Manage a diverse workload across multiple projects and regulatory frameworks.

Who We're Looking For

Must-Have


? Qualified lawyer in Malaysia (mandatory)..


? Minimum 2-3 years' practical experience in data protection/privacy..


? Fluent in English; other languages (e.g. Spanish, Malay, Chinese) desirable.


? Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.


? Highly organized, independent, and comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously

? Interest in privacy law and evolving into a regional privacy leader.



Nice to Have
Formal privacy training or certification (e.g. IAPP) desirable. Familiarity with GDPR, Malaysian PDPA, or similar privacy frameworks. Experience with tools like OneTrust, JIRA, SharePoint, or equivalent.
