Where you fit

• To provide process technological monitoring and advise on highly integrated Shell MDS production plant. The process units\xe2\x80\x99 coverage includes Hydrogenation unit (U5100), Wax Specialties Unit (U5200, U5300 & U5400), Wax Hydrofinishing Unit (U5500, U5600) and Tempered water unit (U7170).
• To assure process design, technical integrity and process unit performance, and to provide technological advice on plant operation and optimization. Responsible for catalyst performance, new catalyst acquisition, implementation and disposal.
• To provide trouble shooting and incident investigation to identify/develop process improvements and plant modifications per SMDS Management of Change and minor project process development.
• Responsible for product quality control and product optimization of existing GTL specialties & wax products, and contribute to the evaluation of new product development.

What\xe2\x80\x99s the role?

• Initiate process design and assurance to plant modification as per SMDS Management of Change procedure. His or her areas cover Unit 5100 (Hydrogenation), Unit 5200 & Unit 5300 (Special Product Unit), Unit 5400 (Wax Separation Unit), Unit 5500 & 5600 (Wax Hydro-Finishing unit), and Unit 7170 Tempered Water system.
• Liaises closely with O&W Plant Controller, Economist & Scheduler, O&W Process Engineer and HPS Technologist on daily basis in maximizing the extraction of Specialties Product from HPS syncrude
• Provide technological advice to process units\xe2\x80\x99 operating conditions, alarm management development and proactive technical monitoring to ensure safe production (ESP) and asset integrity.
• Provides technological content for plant performance reports to include process, catalyst and equipment of the assigned process. Participate in process incident investigation and process improvement proposal to ensure optimal integrated solution for capital project initiation.
• Delivery of establishing business case for minor/major project proposal by providing the feasibility study/key investigation in the project Assess phase, and front end process design for the Basis for Design (BfD) and Process Design Package in the project Select/Define phase.
• Responsible in the (assisting) development of new catalyst, new catalyst acquisition, implementation and disposal in the assigned units.
• Content owner of the unit process safeguarding documentation viz. Process Safeguarding Memorandum, Process Safeguarding Narratives of the assigned units. Provide consistency and accurate documentation of operating manuals, operating procedures including unit start-up, unit shutdown and special operation such as catalyst loading/unloading and conditioning etc.
• Contribute to improve safe and flawless operation by actively participating in LFI and Group standard/program implementation on site in process integrity, define safe operating window and limits for safe unit operations. This includes the development of operating procedure and manual, ESP Technical proactive monitoring, Variable table/alarm, process control, process safeguarding system (Safeguarding Memo, Narrative), PEFS, and PFS.
• Participate in the close-out of all HEMP RAP, Technical Safety Review/PSA/HAZOP/IPF action items in respective process units.
• Conduct test runs in the responsible process areas where applicable.
• Provide technology support to the commissioning, start-up of additional facilities of existing plant and new facilities/projects. Provide support to post implementation review of MOC and minor project, participate in lesson learned documentation and knowledge management.
• Responsible for product quality control and product optimization of existing specialties & wax products, and contributing to evaluation of new product development of wax specialties. Liaise with Marketing department, Laboratory and production planning to ensure product delivery in accordance to product specifications and product demands.
• Member of SMDS Product Development Team.
• Specific technology and knowledge coverage for this position includes Hydrotreating/Hydrogenation, Wax separation using Wiped Film Evaporator/Short Path Evaporator, and Wax Hydrofinishing.

Role requirement (insert by business)

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s or Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Chemical Engineering discipline.
• Min. 3 years of relevant experience in a refinery, gas plant or chemical site is required.
• Group leadership profile i.e. 4-element leadership attributes (Authenticity, Growth, Collaboration and Performance) at Awareness/Knowledge level.
