Job description

This global automation MNC is looking to hire an experienced Procurement Engineer who comes from a mechanical degree/diploma background and has the capabilities of direct procurement and sourcing. Preferably from a manufacturing of heavy machinery this Procurement Engineer will also need to be heavily involved in localisation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing prototype and localisation projects
• Leading sourcing activities and identifying the type of materials that are lacking without affecting local supplies
• Qualifying new suppliers while creating development plans to increase technical abilities of local supplier portfolios for categories such as complex machining, plastics, gears and big machining parts
• Reviewing and analysing BOM requirements of multiple products and machines to identify areas for cost improvement
• Must be able to perform supplier performance assessments

Skills & Experience Required:

• Holding a Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant
• Have at least 3-5 years of experience in a technical purchasing field preferably from a heavy manufacturing background
• Have past experience within strategic purchasing, category management and outsourcing
• Have strong knowledge in mechanical drawings, BOM, material standards and sub assemblies
• Have hands on SAP experience
