The Position

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for supporting the execution of operational Procurement activities for medium / high value reactive or Business-led sourcing requests in Malaysia. This role executes the various day-to-day procurement activities such as ad-hoc, call-off, and unplanned or reactive business-led buying activities ensuring maximum possible Procurement impact. By efficiently and effectively executing the operational procurement process end-to-end, the Procurement Specialist ensures that end user demand and expectations are satisfied. In addition to providing high levels of internal customer service, this role also contributes to overall savings opportunity identification and delivery.

Primary Responsibilities

Your responsibilities typically include:

  • Responsible for ensuring sourcing requests are executed in line with the category buying guides / content, and in compliance with relevant policies, standards, guidelines, and operating procedures, including preferred supplier arrangements and contract
  • Work with the Cluster Lead and stakeholders to understand requirements, and execute the relevant procurement process by applying appropriate methodologies, tools, and value levers. As part of the procurement process this role collaborates with legal and / or contracting
  • functions if needed, to support contracting activities such as the preparation and review of master agreements, statements of work, change orders, or similar documents
  • Understand of internal stakeholder functions and spend characteristics, and effectively translates business needs into sourcing requirements.
  • Drive and execute Procurement requests ensuring a focus on efficiency and the quality of customer experience
  • Leverage applicable category buying guides and sourcing knowledge to determine the best practice for driving procurement value.
  • Apply the Procurement process through the application of tools (RFI/Q/P) for the delivery of the Procurement activity, including but not limited to contract review, negotiation, application of e-Sourcing tools.
  • Deliver operational procurement execution and support for business requirements as well as support Transactional Procurement (i.e. RSS)
  • Support the Cluster Lead in the implementation of new processes, policies, and technologies
  • Ensure that Procurement operational targets and metrics on customer service are delivered.
  • Track and monitor these metrics where required, and escalate issues as they arise Professional and Technical Requirements.
Education / Qualifications:
  • University Degree preferable with logistics, business or financial emphasis or related field
  • Job-related Professional License(s) or Certification(s): CPM, CIRM or CPIM accreditation Experience, Competencies, Knowledge
  • More than 5 years of strategic sourcing /Procurement experience
  • Demonstrated understanding in supporting cost reduction and value improvement programs
  • Good communication skills and demonstrated understanding of translating business requirements into procurement specifications with customer experience in mind
  • Knowledgeable in systems and processes for efficient management of contract documentation, templates and processing tools
  • Knowledge of GEP/S4Hana (MyBuy), MS Office.
  • High degree of customer focus for both internal and external customers and proven ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships
  • Ability to work within an agile management culture
  • Fluent in English
