Job Description


Job Summary The Product Manager is responsible for providing the strategic direction for the marketing function in Malaysia, overseeing the preparation and implementation of marketing plans and promotional programs in accordance with earnings objectives and strategic objectives for assigned product portfolio.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities Key Responsibilities

  • Directs the development and execution of comprehensive marketing plans, programs, and budgets to meet company sales and profit objectives and optimize market opportunities.
  • Support in the formulation of marketing strategies and tactical execution, including pricing, selection of market segments for special emphasis, promotional and advertising support of sales, and specifying the necessary product characteristics
  • Conducts regular review of markets and products to identify opportunities for new businesses
  • Participates in conventions and professional exhibitions to maintain company image and remain aware of product requirements and new market opportunities
  • Prepares long range, annual, quarterly, and monthly forecasts for each product line. Analyzes forecast variances and recommends corrective actions to minimize future back orders or potential obsolescence. Reviews forecast for product requirements and develop plans and objectives to continually be competitive with or ahead of market needs
  • Develops and maintains product line technical expertise and contacts with key surgeons and customers of product responsibility by observing surgery, attending medical/scientific meetings, presentations, and seminars while gathering competitive information.
  • Key driver for new product development process. Responsible for business case and presenting customer requirement into process
  • Develops and manages assigned budgets for administration and marketing activities of the products that are assigned to this responsibility. Analyzes budget variances and recommends corrective actions
  • Conducts market research activities to analyze and identify market needs and issues. Evaluates existing product lines and develops line simplification strategies when appropriate.
  • Coordinates and directs advertising and promotional programs and evaluates overall effectiveness
  • Builds and maintains long-term relationships with high level surgical consultants, key strategic customers and regional sales team to promote the support and image of Zimmer Biomet products and maintain customer focus\xe2\x80\xa2 Uses knowledge of financial principles and the impact of specific product line on sales to successfully plan and manage a budget, P&L reports of his/her cost code and Return on Sales\xe2\x80\xa2 Represents Zimmer Biomet as a product specialist. Trains and educates surgeons, direct & distributor sales team about the theory of products, their design and operative techniques

Expected Areas of Competence \xe2\x80\xa2 Gathers market intelligence to understand customer and market needs and competitors\xe2\x80\x99 strategies; uses this knowledge to create competitive advantage
  • Works effectively with Regional Marketing group to adapt tool kits and programs. Acts as an effective liaison between regional marketing and Singapore commercial team to ensure smooth communication both ways
  • Effectively motivates people over whom he/she does not have direct authority to ensure seamless implementation of product plans, and thereby drives performance exceeding sales, market share and profit objectives
  • Establish strong relationships with local and distributor sales teams, and supports them with added value training and marketing programs to ensure optimal marketing message flow through
  • Ensure accuracy in forecasts and works with Operations Team to ensure optimal level of product supply to keep up customer service whilst supporting planners to achieve key inventory goals
  • Directly working in the field to support local marketing and sales efforts so that customers favorably consider and utilize Zimmer Biomet products. When necessary, coach and support local & distributor\xe2\x80\x99s sales efforts to enhance surgeons\xe2\x80\x99 ability to use our products
  • Convince surgeons on benefits of current and new products to ensure they are motivated to sell these products to their maximum potentials
  • Builds and maintain long-term relationships with high level surgical consultant, key strategic customers and Sales to promote the support and image of company\xe2\x80\x99s products
  • Identify key market issues, challenges and trends to develop effective marketing and promotional plans/strategies to maximize market shares in all key segments we compete in, taking into consideration varying customer needs
  • Manage product launches and phase outs to ensure continuous supply of products. Use knowledge of regulatory requirements to plan for effective and timely product launches. Work closely with Regional Material Planner to ensure effective implementation
  • Develop effective central Information and resource center on market size and share, clinical write ups, competitors\xe2\x80\x99 data, surgery demonstration
  • Develop effective medical education programs as a powerful marketing tool to achieve account conversion leading to sales and market share growth. Identify suitable VIP surgeons and fellowship programs to achieve marketing strategies and objectives.
  • Work closely with Sales Manager to ensure effective implementation of the strategic key account management programs in all key markets in the region to achieve major competitive advantage
  • Participates in the management (design, review, implementation and analysis) of clinical outcomes for products in the Malaysia market.
  • Interface with local sales (direct & distributor) and regional marketing team to facilitate the effective use of medical and clinical information for new product launches and development of product strategies
Education/Experience Requirements \xe2\x80\xa2 Degree in Business Management, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 extensive product management experience or sales experience in orthopedics.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with surgeons and the medical community.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining a budget and forecasting for product line. \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience in working with traditional marketing concepts, marketing strategies, product promotion for medical devices
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills and excel in business presentations. \xe2\x80\xa2 Demonstrated ability to use good analytical skills \xe2\x80\xa2 Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-function environment.
Travel Requirements \xe2\x80\xa2 Minimal, as and when required for training or marketing events.
