Job Description

Product Owner in Financial Markets Operations with responsibility for reconciliations including developing strategic vision and roadmap, solution delivery aligned to business priorities and managing the backlog and cross-functional squads to maximise value aligned to business scorecards and key performance and risk indicators.

Strategy*

  • Develop, maintain and communicate the product vision and roadmap with CPOs, other POs, squads and stakeholders aligned to client needs.
  • Ensure strategic direction is aligned to the overall business plan, scorecard aligned outcomes and target technology architecture and business operating models.
Business*

Key Product Owner Responsibilities including:
  • Delivering their product(s)' contribution to the Business plan and QPR scorecard
  • Developing and maintaining the product vision and roadmap with CPOs, other POs, squads and stakeholders
  • Continuous Backlog management; expressing Backlog items clearly and in a consumable format
  • Accountability for optimising value delivery through continuous improvement, gathering feedback from relevant stakeholders and prioritising their backlog
  • Creating transparency around backlog item progress, blockers, impediments, dependencies and product value delivery via metrics
  • Presence at all required ceremonies/events to provide early feedback and prioritisation
  • Represent assigned squads and manage communication in Refinement forums across progress, Benefits/scorecard tracking and impediment / trade off escalation
Opportunity discovery and lining up work (LuW):
  • Take new ideas and business problems from initiation through to prioritisation including business case building, planning across delivery squads and defining trade off decisions to move into execution.
  • Lead review on thematic and data-driven opportunities facilitating discovery and analysis across global cross-functional teams to identify and recommend operational process improvements.
  • Collaborate with technology, industry and external fintech capabilities to pre-empt disruptive forces and lead experiments with new technologies that may accelerate benefit delivery or offer differentiated capabilities.
People & Talent *
  • Working with Scrum Master and squad members to build an empowered, high performing team in a psychologically safe environment
Risk Management*
  • Review new processes and procedures resulting from initiative delivery against the Bank's Operational Risk Framework.
  • Ensure regular engagement and management of Process Change, Operational and Delivery Risk for their backlog
Governance *

Ensure compliance with required change governance standards through solution and initiative delivery. Adhere to responsibilities of a Product Owner as defined in the investment governance standards. Ensure all artefacts and assurance deliverables are as per the required standards and policies

Training, licenses, memberships and certifications

Scrum Master, Product Owner certification (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years experience and proven knowledge in Banking / Financial markets operational and data. Delivery of technology and business solutions.
  • 2+ years in Agile as Product Owner or similar role, strong skills of maintaining and prioritising a backlog.
  • Previously defined product requirements and development roadmap based on functional expertise
  • Deep understanding of industry trends and client needs, ability to create a value proposition and a squad vision
  • Strong prioritization and analytical skills to manage backlog for the squad
  • Strong communication skills to synchronize tasks, clarify requirements and delivery expectations with stakeholders
  • Experience of design thinking frameworks, HCD
  • Demonstrated track record of leading teams to deliver objectives
  • Previously coached and mentored team members
