The Product Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality of products throughout the production process. This role involves leading quality initiatives, conducting audits, analyzing defects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in product quality. The engineer will also be responsible for compliance with industry standards and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor/master's degree in mechanical engineering, automation, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years in a in a process engineering position within an assembly plant, with knowledge of quality control tools.
Strong knowledge of IATF16949 and ISO9001 and related quality tools (APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, FMEA).
Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement initiatives using LEAN, KAIZEN, and Six Sigma methodologies to significantly enhance process efficiency, reduce operational costs, and elevate product quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, plan, organize, control, and maintain product quality to meet scheduled volumes while minimizing production costs and energy consumption.
Coordinate and organize technical analyses to continuously improve product quality.
Conduct layered process audits and product audits to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Perform reject analysis and follow up on internal 8D reports to identify and resolve quality issues.
Prepare and update working instructions and technical documents.
Generate weekly and monthly reports on quality metrics and improvement initiatives.
Arrange trials for new projects, materials, and designs, and evaluate the engineering change process.
Follow up on new product and project developments, ensuring compliance with APQP and PPAP requirements.
Work closely with the Customer Quality Engineer (CQE) to analyze customer PPM and address quality concerns.
Build and maintain quality systems to meet IATF16949 and ISO9001 standards and ensure compliance with ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards.
Carry out other tasks as assigned by the Operation Manager.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Proficient understanding of the IATF16949 system and its application in a manufacturing environment
Experience in handling internal and external nonconformities independently.
Proficient in using quality management software and tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot process issues.
Excellent communication skills in English and Malay, both written and verbal.
Leadership skills to organize quality training and meetings and motivate teams effectively.
Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience or affinity in automotive gearbox systems or similar components.
