Responsible for operating production machines and equipment, performing assembly, finishing and quality checking of furniture components or finished units, maintaining production targets, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operate and set up production machinery, tools and equipment for furniture manufacturing.
2. Prepare raw materials and ensure these are ready for processing.
3. Monitor machine performance, detect and report malfunctions or breakdowns to superior; perform basic machine adjustments or maintenance as trained.
4. Assemble, join and install structural elements of furniture into finished products, following drawings, specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
5. Carry out surface treatment and finishing operations (e.g., sanding, varnishing, spraying, upholstery) to meet product and quality standards.
6. Perform in-process and final quality inspections to verify parts or finished furniture meet specification and quality standards.
7. Record production data: output quantities, machine start/stop times, defects, rework, downtime, and other relevant metrics.
8. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work station, support 5S/housekeeping initiatives, and ensure a safe working environment.
9. Follow all safety, health and environmental (HSE) policies: proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), correct handling of hazardous materials, adherence to lock-out/tag-out and other site procedures.
10. Collaborate with supervisors, quality assurance, maintenance and logistics teams to support production targets, continuous improvement and production efficiency.
11. Any ad hoc task as assigned by superior.
Qualifications & Skills
Education / Experience:
Minimum SPM level; vocational certificate in woodworking, furniture manufacturing, mechanical or electrical discipline is advantageous.
Prior experience in a manufacturing or furniture production environment desirable; experience operating production machinery (e.g., woodworking machines, CNC equipment, upholstery lines) is a plus.
