Job Summary
The Production Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC machine programs used in the manufacturing of server racks, cabinets, and other data centre infrastructure products. This role ensures that fabrication processes including laser cutting, punching, bending, and welding are executed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with design specifications and production schedules.
The Production Programmer works closely with design engineers, production supervisors, and machine operators to translate technical drawings into precise machine programs while continuously improving manufacturing efficiency, quality, and material utilization.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and optimize CNC programs for fiber laser cutting, turret punching, bending, and other fabrication equipment.
Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to generate accurate and optimized programs.
Prepare setup sheets, nesting layouts, and clear work instructions for production teams.
Optimize material usage and machine cycle times through efficient nesting and toolpath strategies.
Coordinate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure program compatibility with available tools and machine capacities.
Troubleshoot, revise, and improve CNC programs to resolve production issues and enhance output quality.
Maintain programming databases and manage program revision control proactively.
Support new product introductions by developing prototype programs and validating manufacturability.
Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with product specifications and tolerances.
Provide technical training and guidance to machine operators on setup and program execution.
Identify and implement opportunities for automation, efficiency improvement, and process optimization.
Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time.
Qualifications & Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 2-5 years of experience in CNC programming, preferably within sheet metal fabrication.
Strong knowledge of CNC machines (e.g., Amada, Trumpf, or equivalent).
Proficient in CAM software such as AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
Familiar with G-code and NC programming standards.
Solid understanding of fabrication processes including laser cutting, punching, bending, welding, and powder coating.
Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail with good communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight production timelines.
Preferred Skills (Optional)
Familiarity with ERP systems and digital manufacturing data.
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
Experience with AP100, CypCut, or equivalent programming software.
Basic knowledge of 3D CAD modelling.
Understand, implement, and uphold company's Environmental Policy and EMS requirements.
Communicate and report environmental matters to the Superior / EMR / EHS Officer.
Be aware of actions required during normal, abnormal, and emergency environmental situations.
Participate in environmental-related activities such as training, programs, and audits.
Understand the environmental impacts of work activities and take responsibility to control and mitigate them.
Conserve natural resources, including water, energy, and paper.
