The Shell Malaysia Upstream portfolio consists of the following:

Operated Gas and Oil Producing fields in the Sarawak Asset that supply gas into the MLNG onshore plant in Bintulu

substantial non Operated portfolio of mature oil assets in the BDO PSC, producing gas field in KBB PSC and several other gas fields in development and execution within our gas heartland.

the Gumusut-Kakap and Malikai deep-water oil fields in the Sabah Asset that deliver 150 kboepd annually and with further infill projects either in execution or in planning phase.

The role provides a unique opportunity for an individual to deepen and upskill their capabilities through working on a rich and diverse portfolio of upstream assets and growth opportunities.

The Malaysia Development and Subsurface team consists of more than 180 Exploration and Development professionals that are focused on the safe execution and operation of our wells and assets, in delivering production gains through prudent Well Reservoir and Facilities Management (WRFM), and in delivering more than 50 new development & exploration wells over the next 5 years to enable future growth and sustain our business into the future.

What's the role?

This position reports to WRFM Subsurface Lead, who reports to Area Development & SS Manager Sarawak.

The WRFM Subsurface Team provides end to end field management support for 12 producing gas fields (operated and non-operated), manages well integrity (~75 wells), surveillance, production optimization, and other operator's fields integration as well as supporting full field reviews and license to operate related activities. The WRFM team will be organized into 3 natural teams who will be focusing on 3 clusters of fields in Sarawak. The Sarawak WRFM team also supports the WRFM / drilling activities of non-operated fields within Sarawak.

As a Production Technologist (PT) you will:

Ensure high quality PT technical input to activities in the Sarawak WRFM Team, including but not limiting to well integrity, surveillance, restoration, optimization of existing well stocks, full field reviews and license to operate related activities. This involves proactively working together with Well Engineering and Asset teams.

Identify and drive performance improvement initiatives that deliver top-quartile WRFM efforts by embedding Shell Asset Management System (AMS) intent based working practices and workflows.

Support WRFM Subsurface Lead and WRFM Manager in opportunity maturation and external stakeholder management for technical and budget approval.

Manage well integrity for assigned wells, by ensuring the surveillance and maintenance of Well's Safety Critical Element is completed according to Group and local standard.

Provide coaching to junior member(s) and support any functional improvement initiatives.

What we need from you?

Minimum of 7 years of EP experience with an emphasis on well / reservoir management, and well intervention design and execution.

Skilled in core Production Technology competencies; Well performance enhancement, well and completion design, well integrity management and design and execution of well interventions like acid stimulation, water shut off, gas well de-liquification with the ability to work independently, as well as challenge and support others.

Demonstrated track record in delivering production enhancement gains whether downhole or surface optimisation activities

Good understanding of the risks and technical issues associated with subsurface, wells and surface development opportunities.

Experience in coordinating activities and working in large, diverse multi-disciplinary teams.

A good understanding of integrated gas systems, gas contracts and associated gas field planning issues. Proficient in IPSM (GAP, Prosper) modelling.

Hard skills required:

Has a university degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.

Has proven opportunity coordination and integrations skills

Has relevant experience in WRFM and/or opportunity maturation.
