DESIGNATION : PROGRAMME ASSISTANT



RESPONSIBILITIES

The Programme Assistant supports the daily operations of the Salvation Army Banting Community Learning Centre by ensuring a clean, safe, and conducive environment in the morning, and by assisting children with their studies and programme activities in the afternoon. She is expected to serve as a positive role model for the children, demonstrating care, patience, and responsibility. The Programme Assistant should adopt a holistic approach, attending to the physical, educational, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of the children, while complying with The Salvation Army policies, child protection guidelines, and relevant government regulations.


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES




Morning Duties - Centre Cleanliness & Preparation





1. Perform daily cleaning of the Centre, including toilets, classrooms, pantry, corridors, and common areas.



2. Ensure the Centre is hygienic, safe, and ready for children's arrival.



3. Wash and clean corridor areas at least twice a week.



4. Arrange classrooms and learning materials for daily programmes.



5. Assist in basic maintenance and report any damages or safety concerns to management.


Afternoon Duties - Programme & Academic Support



6. Assist children with homework, reading, basic literacy, numeracy, and revision activities.



7. Support teachers and facilitators during learning sessions and programmes.



8. Help manage children's behaviour in a caring and positive manner.



9. Encourage children's participation and provide emotional support when needed.



10. Assist in preparing and distributing learning materials and resources.


General Responsibilities



11. Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.



12. Accompany the Centre driver during pick-up and drop-off sessions and assist as required.



13. Support special programmes, events, and activities organised by the Centre.



14. Participate in Salvation Army fundraising events and Centre-organised activities as required.



15. Work as part of a team and maintain good communication with staff and management.



16. Carry out any additional duties assigned by the Centre Manager or management.



QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum basic education; able to read and write in Bahasa Malaysia & English. Experience working with children is an advantage. Patient, caring, responsible, and willing to learn. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Physically fit to perform cleaning duties. * Passion to serve underprivileged children and the community.
