The Chargeman is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all low-voltage (LV) electrical systems and equipment in accordance with the Electricity Supply Act 1990, Electricity Regulations 1994, and Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) requirements. The role also involves assisting in project and site coordination to ensure smooth execution of electrical works, compliance with technical and safety standards, and effective communication with project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low-voltage (LV) electrical systems, equipment, and installations to ensure efficient and safe performance.
Ensure all electrical works comply with the Electricity Supply Act 1990, Electricity Regulations 1994, and Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) rules and guidelines.
Conduct daily inspections, switching operations, and preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability and minimize downtime.
Maintain accurate records and logbooks for all maintenance, inspection, and fault activities in accordance with statutory and company requirements.
Ensure safety procedures are strictly followed during isolation, energizing, testing, and commissioning works.
Supervise and guide wiremen, technicians, and subcontractors during installation, rectification, and maintenance activities, ensuring work quality and compliance with safety standards.
Assist the Project Engineer or Manager in planning, coordinating, and monitoring project progress at site to meet project timelines.
Liaise and coordinate with clients, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution and adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and standards.
Conduct site inspections, testing, and commissioning activities while ensuring quality control and compliance with technical and regulatory requirements.
Support documentation work including preparation of progress reports, test reports, as-built drawings, and handover documentation.
Assist in material estimation, requisition, and tracking of deliveries to ensure sufficient and timely supply for project needs.
Identify and report potential electrical hazards, provide technical recommendations, and propose corrective actions to management.
Provide technical input and support during installation, modification, and troubleshooting to resolve electrical issues effectively.
Qualification & Requirements:
Possess a valid Chargeman Certificate of Competency issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST).
Minimum SPM / Certificate / Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
At least 2-3 years of working experience in electrical installation, maintenance, or project environments.
Good knowledge of electrical systems, MS IEC 60364, wiring rules, and safety regulations.
Able to read and interpret electrical single line diagrams (SLD) and schematic drawings accurately.
Strong coordination and communication skills with project teams, consultants, and clients.
Self-disciplined, responsible, and committed to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Possess a valid driving license and willing to travel to site as required.
