Job Description


Background

Climate Bonds Initiative is an investor-focused not-for-profit, promoting large-scale investment in the low-carbon economy, which carries out market analysis, policy research, market development; advises governments and regulators; and administers a global Climate Bonds Standard & Certification Scheme.

The proposed guidance toolkit (\xe2\x80\x9cToolkit\xe2\x80\x9d) will walk corporates through Climate Bonds\xe2\x80\x99 Five Transition Principles whilst ensuring that the corporate transition strategy is ambitious namely it aims to be in line with 1.5 degrees or has a significant emissions reduction potential. In addition, the focus is to ensure that the strategy is applicable to the whole business and the implementation plans are holistic and robust for stakeholders to be convinced of the corporate\xe2\x80\x99s intent.

Purpose and Objectives

Climate Bonds is seeking an experienced software developer to develop and design a web-based knowledge platform that guides users in the development of climate-aligned transition plans and strategies.

Scope of Services and Deliverables/Outputs

1) Conduct a mapping exercise to review data provided, and identify data requirements of the web-based knowledge platform.

2) Design and develop an interactive e-learning platform that guides users in the development of climate-aligned transition plans and strategies, which should include:

- Static content that will be shared with user based on user responses to pre-defined questions

- Content will include numerical data, description of key climate-aligned terms etc., which will require hyperlinks to sub-content and or third-party websites

- Response options will be pre-defined and will not be more than 10 options per question

3) Design an interface based on Climate Bonds\xe2\x80\x99 design specifications that is simple to navigate and user friendly.

4) Identify any missing components necessary for the tool.

5) Provide analytical features to track performance and use of the tool.

Timeframe and Milestones for expected Deliverables/Outputs

The Consultant will be required to deliver this work within 1 month from the commencement date.

Shortlisting and interviews are expected to take place in early September, and the anticipated commencement date of the consultant will be mid-end of September 2023. The milestones and timelines will be discussed and agreed with the consultant during the selection process.

Selection Criteria

The software developer should possess the following skills or experience:

  • Expertise:
  • The candidate should have a strong background in web programming and software development, including significant experience with and proficiency in various programming languages (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Chrome DevTools, npm and build processes using Git and cloud deployments).
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills:
  • The candidate should possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills to understand the requirements of green taxonomies and transition finance frameworks, translate them into model features, and develop effective strategies for company evaluation.
  • They should be able to analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative climate-related data (e.g. GHG emissions data, corporate net-zero pathway), make informed decisions, and continuously improve the Toolkit\xe2\x80\x99s performance.
  • Experience:
  • A track record of undertaking similar assignments.
  • An understanding in software development and web design for/within a commercial organisation, alongside experience in User Experience (UX), User Interface (UI) and API web integration, are preferred.
