Job Duties

Project planning

  • Create project management program in consultation with supervisor and subordinate (Senior Site Agent and Planning Manager); Seek support from supervisor on resource allocation, as required
  • Identify personnel to be staffed on the project basis number and skill requirements; Assign accountabilities to subordinates and guide them in cascading down the same within their respective teams
  • Identify parts of the project to be sub-contracted basis contract requirements as well as understanding of internal capabilities and resource availability
  • Guide subordinates in supplier and sub-contractor selection; Seek necessary approvals from supervisors, if required; Review supplier/sub-contractor performance on a periodic basis and take correction action, as required
  • Guide subordinate (Construction Manager) in developing the shortterm construction plan using a bottom-up approach; Review and approve the same and seek validation from the client
Project monitoring and tracking
  • Oversee project progress against the project plan on-going basis
  • Guide subordinates in resolving any issues/delays
  • Seek support from supervisors to provide any additional internal/external resources required
  • Report project progress to superiors in a timely manner; highlight any major concerns and seek support on addressing the same
  • Set up key progress monitoring tools for effectively communicating progress and status through meaningful data
Relationship management
  • Prepare project progress reports and share with the client on a periodic basis as mandated by the contract
  • Proactively inform the client of any time overruns and measures being taken to address the same
  • Proactively inform client of matters which will result in claims for additional costs and/or time
  • Maintain strong working relationships with major suppliers and subcontractors for smoothly running ground operations
  • Interface with representatives of other contractors as required to ensure mutual cooperation and a beneficial working relationship
  • Maintain good working relationships with the local community; Support subordinates in resolving any public complaints/concerns
Commercial management
  • Negotiate with key individuals in the supplier/sub-contractor organisation for more favourable rates and/or terms on high-value deals
  • Review project cost on an on-going basis; analyse cost overruns and identify possibilities of recovering the same from the client/subcontractor in consultation with subordinates
  • Support subordinates by front-ending discussions on major additional costs to be recovered from the client/sub-contractors
  • Review project financials including cash flows and forecasted costs and report the same to supervisor on a periodic basis; Seek support on measures to improve project financials, if required
  • Oversee proper notification & submission of claims to the client to maximise entitlement to compensation through the contract
Quality management
  • Review quality reports from subordinates on a monthly basis
  • Oversee adherence to quality management guidelines of LAIO and project quality requirements
  • Guide subordinates in handling major exceptions/deviations
  • Provide planning/resource support requested by subordinates or the Quality team in training project team members on environmental/quality related concepts
  • Cascade any company-level initiatives to project level; oversee implementation of the same through subordinates
People management
  • Set objective goals, evaluate performance of subordinates and provide them regular feedback
  • Identify performance gaps in subordinates and provide necessary support to close such gaps
  • Recognise and encourage high performing subordinates
  • Train and mentor subordinates on technical as well as behavioural aspects of their respective roles
  • Provide opportunities to the team to develop their capabilities
  • Resolve issues faced by subordinates
Safety, Health & Environmental
  • Oversee timely training of the project team and sub-contractor team on all HSE guidelines of LAIO and local governmental regulations; Oversee adherence of the project team to safety walks
  • Review HSE reports received from subordinates on a weekly basis; Guide subordinates on addressing existing/potential concerns
  • Cascade any company-level initiatives to project level; oversee implementation of the same through subordinates
  • Address the team on a regular basis regarding the criticality of HSE in the organisation and its linkage with project success
  • Provide strong & visible leadership of safety and drive commitment of project team to safety objectives
Risk & opportunity management
  • Oversee design and implementation of risk & opportunity management processes on the project in conjunction with subordinate (Engineering & Risk Manager)
  • Review risk & opportunity reports on a regular basis with subordinates (Senior Site Agents, Senior Contracts Administrator, Engineering & Risk Manager); Identify key risks/opportunities from the overall list suggested by subordinates
  • Guide subordinates in mitigation of key financial (cost/time overruns) and safety related risks
  • Guide subordinates on identifying and implementing process improvements and workarounds to leverage cost-saving opportunities
  • Analyse opportunities for increasing project revenue due changes in scope of work; Negotiate with client to seek approval on major cost implications of changes in scope
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor\'s degree
  • Total work experience: 15++ years of experience in projects of comparable magnitude and complexity
  • Knowledge of construction managementKnowledge of LAIO and governmental regulations on HSE
  • Knowledge of LAIO quality guidelines
  • Knowledge of engineering, design and construction concepts and procedures
