Job Description

A Project Planner with AutoCAD expertise is responsible for creating, managing, and updating project schedules and plans, with a specific focus on projects that require detailed technical drawings and layouts. This role is crucial for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required specifications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of project management principles, excellent organizational skills, and a high level of proficiency in

AutoCAD

software.

Key Responsibilities

Project Scheduling:

Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive project schedules, including timelines, milestones, and dependencies. Use project management software (like

Microsoft Project

or

Primavera P6

) to track progress and identify potential delays.

Drawing and Design:

Utilize

AutoCAD

to create, modify, and review technical drawings, schematics, and layouts. This includes architectural, mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering plans, depending on the industry.

Coordination and Communication:

Act as a central point of contact between project stakeholders, including engineers, architects, contractors, and clients. Ensure that all parties are aligned with the project plan and that changes are communicated effectively.

Resource Management:

Monitor and allocate project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, based on the project schedule.

Risk Management:

Proactively identify potential risks and issues that could impact the project timeline or budget. Develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks.

Reporting:

Prepare and present regular progress reports to project managers and stakeholders, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and upcoming tasks.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education:

A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field is typically required.

Software Proficiency:

Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD

is non-negotiable. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a strong command of the software for drafting and design. Proficiency in project management software (e.g.,

Microsoft Project, Primavera P6

). Familiarity with other design software (like

Revit

or

SketchUp

) is a plus.

Project Management Knowledge:

A solid understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).

Attention to Detail:

Meticulous attention to detail is essential for ensuring the accuracy of schedules and technical drawings.

Problem-Solving:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address project challenges and make informed decisions.

Communication:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Certifications:

Project Management Professional (

PMP

) or Certified Associate in Project Management (

CAPM

) certification is highly desirable.

Experience:

Previous experience in a project planning or project controls role, particularly in industries such as construction, manufacturing, or engineering.

Industry Knowledge:

Specific knowledge of industry standards and regulations relevant to the project type (e.g., building codes, safety regulations).
